Hybrid Racing Performance Shifter Cables - 02-05 Civic Si & 01-05 Civic Type R (EP3)
Worn shifter cables are one of the most overlooked reasons an EP3 shifts poorly. The factory cables use plastic parts that flex and wear, and that slop shows up as a vague, rubbery shift and the occasional missed gear when you're moving fast. Our performance cables replace the stock units with hardware that doesn't give. You get solid rod ends, a cable core that's 30% thicker, and spherical bearings, and together they give you a firmer, tighter shift with fewer missed gears and a more connected feel to the chassis.
What Makes Them Better Than OEM
The whole point of these cables is to take the flex out of the shift linkage. Beyond the thicker core and spherical bearings, they run stainless steel push rods and stainless steel swivel support tubes in place of the factory plastic ones, which are a known failure point on the OEM cables. The rod ends and mounting bushings are CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, heat-treated, and finished in black hard anodize before being laser etched with the Hybrid Racing logo. Every plastic piece that flexes or breaks on the stock cables has been replaced with metal that holds its shape, so the crisp shift you get on day one stays that way.
These were built to give people a cable they don't have to think about, whether they're driving hard on the street or leaning on the car in a demanding racing application. That's the job, and these do it.
Direct Replacement for EP3 Cables
These are a direct replacement for your OEM EP3-style cables. The only extra step is retrofitting your original cable grommet onto the new HR cables. The cable that controls the left/right motion of the shifter has been upgraded from the factory plastic twist-lock bushing to an aluminum bushing with spring clips. That change makes installation a little simpler, but the real benefit is getting rid of another plastic part that flexes and leads to a sloppy shift. The extra spring clip you need is included, so you won't have to buy anything else to finish the job, and an easy-to-follow installation tips sheet comes with every set.
