Honda K24Z2/K24Z3 Water Pump - Genuine OEM (19200-R40-A01)
Coolant leaking, temp gauge climbing, or hearing a whine up front on your TSX, Accord, or CR-V? This genuine Honda water pump, part 19200-R40-A01, is the fix for the K24Z1, K24Z2, and K24Z3. Before you order though, there's one fitment thing you need to read, because the part number can throw people off. This one does not fit the K24Z7 in the 2012-2015 Civic Si, even though the number carries the R40 nomenclature. More on that right below.
Important: This Doesn't Fit The 2012-2015 Civic Si
Read this before you buy, because it's an easy mistake to make. Even though this pump's part number includes R40, it does not fit the K24Z7 engine in the 2012-2015 Honda Civic Si. Same K24 family, different pump. If you've got a 2012-2015 Civic Si, the pump you need is 19200-RX0-A01, not this one. For everybody running the K24Z1, K24Z2, or K24Z3 in the cars listed below, you're in the right spot.
What It Does And When It's Time
Here's the quick version. Your water pump keeps coolant circulating through the engine and radiator so it holds the right temperature, and it's got a spinning bearing and a seal inside, both of which wear out eventually. When yours is on the way out, you'll usually catch it one of a few ways: coolant weeping or dripping from the pump, a whine or growl from the bearing, or the temp gauge climbing higher than it should. Don't sit on it, because a pump that quits means an overheated engine, and that's a far bigger repair than the pump itself. The K24 runs a timing chain rather than a belt, so there's no belt-service interval forcing the issue, you replace the pump when it starts showing these signs.
