Honda K24A8/K24Z1 Throttle Body Gasket - 16176-RTA-004
Got a high idle or rough idle that won't go away? Your throttle body gasket might be leaking. The Honda K24A8/K24Z1 throttle body gasket (part number 16176-RTA-004) seals your throttle body to your intake manifold. When the gasket gets old and compressed, it leaks vacuum. When you've got a vacuum leak at your throttle body, your idle's abnormally high, your car runs lean, and you've got a check engine light for lean codes. Replace the gasket every time you remove your throttle body. Don't reuse old gaskets. They always leak.
Why Your Throttle Body Gasket Leaks
Your throttle body gasket sits between your throttle body and your intake manifold. It seals the connection so no air sneaks in around the edges. The gasket's made from rubber or paper composite, and over time it gets compressed and hard from heat and constant clamping pressure. Once the gasket hardens, it doesn't seal properly and you've got a vacuum leak. When air's getting sucked in past your throttle body gasket, your ECU can't measure it because it's bypassing your mass airflow sensor. Your car runs lean, your idle surges or hunts at abnormally high RPM, and you'll probably throw a P0171 or P0174 lean code.
Replace It Every Time You Remove Your Throttle Body
Any time you remove your throttle body, replace this gasket. The gasket's like three bucks and it takes ten seconds to install. If you reuse the old gasket and it leaks, you've got to pull your throttle body again to replace it. That's annoying and you're wasting time to save three bucks. Don't do that to yourself. If you're cleaning your throttle body, replacing it, or doing intake manifold work, order a new throttle body gasket with your parts so you've got it when you need it.

Note: Replace this gasket every time you remove your throttle body. Don't reuse old gaskets. They always leak. Clean the mating surfaces on your throttle body and intake manifold before you install the new gasket. If there's old gasket material stuck to the surfaces, scrape it off with a razor blade. Make sure the surfaces are clean and flat so your new gasket seals properly. Torque your throttle body bolts to spec in a crisscross pattern. If you don't torque them evenly, your gasket won't seal and you'll have a vacuum leak.
