Honda K20A/K20Z/K24A Valve Cover Gasket - 12341-RTA-000

Got oil leaking from the top of your K series engine? Your valve cover gasket's probably leaking. The Honda K series valve cover gasket (part number 12341-RTA-000) seals your valve cover to your cylinder head. When the gasket gets old and hard, it doesn't seal properly and oil leaks out. You'll see oil dripping down the side of your engine block or smell burning oil when your engine's hot. Replace your valve cover gasket when you're doing spark plugs, valve adjustment, or any time you pull your valve cover off. Don't reuse old gaskets. They're always compressed and they won't seal when you reinstall your valve cover.

Here's What Happens When Your Valve Cover Gasket Leaks

Your valve cover gasket seals the connection between your valve cover and your cylinder head. When the gasket gets old, it hardens and shrinks from heat cycles. Once it's hard, it doesn't compress properly and oil leaks past it. You'll see oil on the outside of your engine around the valve cover area. If the leak's bad enough, oil drips onto your exhaust manifold and burns. That's the burning oil smell you're smelling. A leaking valve cover gasket's annoying and it makes a mess of your engine bay. Just replace the gasket.

Replace It Any Time You Remove Your Valve Cover

Any time you're pulling your valve cover off for spark plug replacement, valve adjustment, cam gear install, or any other work, replace this gasket. It's like ten bucks. If you reuse an old gasket that's already been compressed, it's not going to seal properly when you bolt your valve cover back on. You'll have an oil leak and you'll be pulling your valve cover off again to replace the gasket you should've replaced the first time. Don't do that to yourself.

Valve Cover Gasket Only, Not the Full Kit

This is just the valve cover gasket. It doesn't include spark plug tube seals or the small grommets and washers. If you need those parts too, you want the full valve cover gasket kit (part number 12030-PNC-000). If you're just replacing the valve cover gasket and you're reusing your spark plug tube seals, this is what you need. Most people replace the spark plug tube seals at the same time because they're already in there, but if yours aren't leaking you can reuse them.

Does NOT Fit K24Z2, K24Z3, or K24Z7 Engines

This valve cover gasket fits K20A, K20Z, and K24A engines. It doesn't fit K24Z2, K24Z3, or K24Z7 engines. If you've got a 2008-2012 Accord, 2009-2014 TSX, or 2012-2015 Civic Si, you've got a K24Z engine and you need a different valve cover gasket. This gasket only fits older K series engines from RSX, EP3 Civic Si, 8th gen Civic Si, CR-V, Element, and early TSX/Accord.

Note: This is the valve cover gasket only. It doesn't include spark plug tube seals or hardware gaskets. If you need those parts, order the full valve cover gasket kit (part number 12030-PNC-000) instead. Replace this gasket every time you remove your valve cover. Don't reuse old gaskets. They're compressed and they won't seal properly. Clean the gasket surfaces on your valve cover and cylinder head before you install the new gasket. If there's old gasket material stuck on the surfaces, scrape it off carefully. Don't gouge the aluminum surfaces. Don't use sealant or RTV on this gasket. The gasket seals by itself when you torque the valve cover bolts down. If you use RTV, it can squeeze out and block oil passages. Torque your valve cover bolts to spec in the correct sequence. If you don't follow the torque sequence, the gasket won't seal evenly and you'll get leaks. This gasket doesn't fit K24Z2, K24Z3, or K24Z7 engines. Those engines use a different valve cover gasket.
