PRODUCT DETAILS

Honda K Series Crank Pulse Plate - 13622-RAA-A01

Doing a timing belt job on your K series? You need a new crank pulse plate. The Honda K series crank pulse plate bolts to your crankshaft and it's got a keyhole that lines up with your crank position sensor. The pulse plate's what tells your ECU where your crankshaft's positioned so it knows when to fire your spark plugs and injectors. When the pulse plate gets damaged or the teeth wear down, your ECU can't read your crank position properly. You'll get misfires, rough running, or your car won't start. Replace your crank pulse plate whenever you're doing timing belt work or if your crank position sensor's throwing codes.

Here's What Your Crank Pulse Plate Does

Your crank pulse plate sits on your crankshaft right behind your timing belt. It's got teeth around the edge that your crank position sensor reads. As your crankshaft's spinning, the sensor reads the teeth on the pulse plate and it sends that info to your ECU. Your ECU uses that data to figure out exactly where your crankshaft's positioned and when to fire your spark plugs and injectors. If the pulse plate's damaged or the teeth are worn down, your crank position sensor can't read it right. Your ECU doesn't know where your crankshaft is, so it can't time your ignition and fuel injection correctly. You'll get misfires, rough idle, or your engine won't even start.

Replace It While You're In There

Whenever you're doing timing belt work and you've got your timing cover off, take a look at your crank pulse plate. If the teeth are worn, chipped, or damaged, replace it right then. Don't wait for it to fail and leave you stuck on the side of the road. The pulse plate's cheap and it takes maybe two minutes to swap when you've already got your timing belt off. If you wait till it fails, you're pulling everything apart all over again just to replace the pulse plate you should've done the first time.
