Honda K/J Series Countershaft Bolt - Genuine OEM, Left-Hand Thread (90011-PPP-000)
Deep into a Honda manual transmission and staring down the countershaft bolt? Stop and read this first, because it'll save you a snapped bolt and a wrecked afternoon: this thing is a left-hand thread. Reverse thread. It loosens the "wrong" way. This is the genuine Honda replacement, part 90011-PPP-000, the special 20x25 bolt that lives on the end of your countershaft, and it's not a bolt you want to reuse or guess your way through.
Read This: It's A Left-Hand Thread
Here's the one thing everybody needs to know about this bolt, and the thing that catches people who don't do their homework. It's a left-hand (reverse) thread, so everything you've got burned into muscle memory is backwards here. To loosen it, you turn it clockwise. To tighten it, you turn it counterclockwise. Crank on it the normal "lefty-loosey" way and all you're doing is torquing it tighter, and on a bolt that's already torqued down hard, that's how you round it off or snap it clean. You'll want a 12mm hex key or hex socket to get on it. Just remember it's reverse thread before you put any muscle into it and you're golden.
What It Is And When You Replace It
This is the special bolt that clamps the bearing and gear stack onto the end of your countershaft inside the manual transmission, so it's buried in there, you only meet it when you're doing real gearbox work. Most people run into it during a 6-speed conversion, the 1-2 synchro sleeve TSB fix, or any time they're servicing the countershaft bearings or gears. And here's the part that matters: Honda treats this as a one-time-use bolt. When you pull the countershaft apart, you discard the old special bolt and put a fresh one in on reassembly, you don't reuse it. So if you're in there doing the job, this is the new bolt that goes back in.
Genuine Honda, Correct Part
This is the real Honda piece, the actual countershaft special bolt (Honda calls it "Bolt, Special 20x25"), not a substitute you're hoping fits. It's the correct left-hand thread, the correct size, and it's a shared part across a huge range of K-series and J-series Honda and Acura manual transmissions, so it's the right bolt whether you're in an RSX, a Civic Si, a TSX, or a Type R gearbox.
