Genuine Honda Crank Pulley (13810-PCX-003) - F20C & F22C S2000
The crank pulley on your S2000 is a harmonic damper, and on an engine that spins to 9,000 rpm, that job matters more than on almost anything else Honda built. It absorbs the torsional vibration the crankshaft produces, and when the rubber bonding inside it fails, that vibration goes somewhere it shouldn't. This is the genuine Honda replacement for the AP1 and AP2.
Why This Matters More On An S2000
Worth understanding, because the F-series makes this a more critical part than usual.
Every crank pulley damps torsional vibration, but the F20C and F22C rev higher than practically any other production Honda engine. Higher rpm means more vibration cycles and more energy for the damper to absorb, which means the damper works harder and matters more.
When it fails, you're not just risking a belt. Uncontrolled torsional vibration at 9,000 rpm is genuinely destructive to the crankshaft, the bearings, and everything driven off the front of the engine. On a motor this special, that's not a risk worth taking with a worn pulley.
How These Fail
The pulley is built in two pieces, an inner hub and an outer ring, bonded with rubber between them. That rubber is what absorbs vibration, and over years and heat cycles it degrades.
What you see is the outer ring separating or walking relative to the inner hub. Sometimes there's visible cracking or missing rubber, sometimes the ring has shifted enough that your belt no longer tracks straight, which shows up as belt wear or squeal.
The serious version is the outer ring letting go entirely at high rpm, which takes the accessory belt with it and can do real damage on the way out. On an S2000 that spends time at the top of the rev range, catching this before it fails is worth doing.
Grab The Crank Pulley Key
Worth adding to your order, since it's the small part that makes this job go properly.
The crank pulley key (90704-PT0-000) indexes the pulley to the crankshaft. It's inexpensive, it's easy to nick or bend on removal, and a damaged key means a pulley that doesn't seat exactly right, which allows movement and eventually wallows out the keyway in the crank itself.
Given you're already in there and the key costs almost nothing, there's no reason to reuse the old one.
Use The Genuine Part
The damping characteristics are the specification here, and they're tuned to the frequencies this specific engine produces. A pulley that bolts on and spins isn't necessarily absorbing what the F-series generates.
Underdrive and lightweight pulleys exist and have their place on a dedicated track car, but they're a different product with real tradeoffs, including reduced damping on an engine that genuinely needs it. If you want a factory-behaving S2000 with proper vibration control, this is the part.
Fitment
2000-2009 Honda S2000 (AP1 and AP2), including base and CR
Covers F20C and F22C. Part number 13810-PCX-003.
Who Should Grab One
This is for the S2000 owner who's found a separating pulley, a belt that won't track straight, or vibration that wasn't there before, and for anyone going through a high-mileage F-series who wants the damper fresh. The rubber degrades on a calendar as much as on an odometer, and on an engine that revs like this one, it's not the place to run something worn. Add the key, torque it properly, and keep the front of the engine doing its job.
Fits: 2000-2009 Honda S2000 (AP1 and AP2), base and CR. Part number: 13810-PCX-003. Engines: F20C and F22C. Type: genuine Honda crank pulley and harmonic damper. Recommended: new crank pulley key, part 90704-PT0-000.
