Honda EK Civic Driver Side Door Lock Cylinder - 72146-S04-003
Your EK Civic or CR-V door lock cylinder worn out and your key barely works anymore? Honda part number 72146-S04-003 is the OEM driver side door lock cylinder with two fresh blank master keys. It's the whole lock assembly that goes in your driver door. After 20+ years of daily use, the tumblers inside your factory lock get worn and your key won't turn smoothly. Here's Why Your Door Lock Stops Working
Your door lock cylinder's got little metal tumblers inside that match your key's cuts. Every time you put your key in and turn it, those tumblers wear down just a bit. After 200k+ key insertions over 20 years, the tumblers get sloppy and worn. Your key doesn't line up with the worn tumblers correctly anymore, so the lock won't turn or it's really stiff. Dirt and corrosion make it worse. Eventually you can't unlock your door with the key at all. You're using your key fob every time or you're climbing in through the passenger door. New lock cylinder's got fresh tumblers that'll work smooth for another 20 years.
Comes with Two New Blank Keys
The lock cylinder comes with two blank master keys already cut to match the new lock. You're not reusing your old worn key with the new lock. The blanks need to be cut by a locksmith or Honda dealer to actually work, but they're matched to the new cylinder. Take the new cylinder and the blank keys to any locksmith and they'll cut the keys to match. Then you've got a fresh lock and fresh keys that work perfect together. Your old key won't work in the new lock because it's keyed differently.
Includes the Plastic Retaining Clip
The lock cylinder comes with the plastic retaining clip that holds the lock actuator lever in place. A lot of aftermarket lock cylinders don't include this clip and you're stuck trying to reuse your old one, which is probably brittle and cracked after 20 years. The OEM kit's got everything you need. Driver Side Only
This lock cylinder's for the driver door only. If your passenger door lock's also worn out, that's a different part number. Most people only replace the driver side because that's the one that gets used every day. The passenger lock usually still works fine because nobody's been turning it 500 times a year for two decades.
