Honda D/B/F/H Series Fuel Pump Assembly Gasket - 17574-SV1-L01

Here's What This Gasket Does
Your fuel pump sits inside your gas tank. The fuel pump's got a lid on top that bolts down to seal the pump assembly. This gasket sits between the lid and the fuel pump assembly to seal it. When the gasket gets old from sitting in gas, the rubber gets hard and it shrinks. Once it's hard, it doesn't seal properly and gas fumes leak past it. You'll smell raw gas in your trunk or around your car. If the leak's bad enough, you might see gas dripping from the fuel pump area or you'll find a puddle of gas in your trunk. That's a fire hazard. Replace the gasket.
It's Got Indexing Studs
The gasket's got indexing studs molded into it. The studs stick up from the gasket and they fit into holes in the fuel pump lid. The studs are what line the gasket up properly so it sits in the right spot when you're installing it. When you're putting the fuel pump lid back on, you push the gasket onto the lid and the studs click into the holes. That's how you know it's seated right.
Replace It When You're Doing Fuel Pump Work
Whenever you're pulling your fuel pump out for fuel pump replacement or fuel level sender work, replace this gasket. It's cheap and it's already right there. If you reuse an old gasket that's been soaking in gas for 20 years, it's not going to seal right when you bolt the lid back down. You'll have a gas leak and you'll be pulling your fuel pump back out to replace the gasket you should've replaced the first time. Don't do that to yourself.
