Honda B Series Timing Belt Guide Plate - 13622-PR3-000
Doing a timing belt job on your B series? You need timing belt guide plates. The Honda B series timing belt guide plate (part number 13622-PR3-000) keeps your timing belt tracking straight on the crankshaft pulley. Without the guide plates, your timing belt can walk off the pulley and slip or jump timing. Most B series engines use two guide plates, one on each side of the crankshaft pulley. These guide plates are sold individually, so order two if you're replacing both. If you're doing a timing belt job, replace these guide plates at the same time.
What the Timing Belt Guide Plate Does
Your timing belt guide plates sit on both sides of your crankshaft pulley. They keep your timing belt centered on the pulley so it doesn't walk off to one side. When your timing belt's under tension and spinning, it can shift side to side slightly. The guide plates prevent that. Without guide plates, your timing belt can walk off the pulley edge, which causes the belt to wear unevenly or slip timing. If your timing belt slips timing, your valves crash into your pistons and you've got a destroyed motor.
Replace Them During Timing Belt Jobs
Any time you're doing a timing belt job, replace your timing belt guide plates. The guide plates are thin metal and they wear from contact with the timing belt. If your old guide plates are worn or bent, they won't keep your timing belt centered properly. New guide plates are cheap and they only take a few seconds to install when you've already got the timing belt off. Don't reuse old, worn guide plates. Replace them when you replace your timing belt.
Sold Individually - Order Two
These guide plates are sold individually. Most B series engines use two guide plates, one on each side of the crankshaft pulley. If you're replacing both guide plates, order two. Don't just replace one side. If one guide plate's worn, the other one's worn too. Replace both at the same time.
