Honda B Series Shift Rod Oil Seal - 91215-689-013
Leaking transmission fluid from your shift rod? You need a new shift rod oil seal. The Honda B series shift rod oil seal (part number 91215-689-013) seals the shift rod where it goes into your transmission. When the seal gets old and hard, it leaks transmission fluid. You'll see fluid dripping from the shift rod area or you'll notice your transmission fluid level's dropping. Replace the seal when you're doing a transmission rebuild or if you're seeing fluid leaking from the shift rod. Don't reuse old seals. They always leak.
Why Your Shift Rod Seal Leaks
Your shift rod seal sits where the shift rod enters your transmission case. It keeps transmission fluid from leaking out past the shift rod. The seal's made from rubber, and over time it gets hard and brittle from heat and oil exposure. Once the seal hardens, it doesn't seal properly and transmission fluid leaks past it. If you're pulling your transmission for a rebuild or clutch job, replace this seal at the same time. Don't try to reuse the old seal. Even if it looks fine, it's already compressed and hard, and it won't seal when you reinstall it.
Replace It During Transmission Work
Any time you remove your transmission, replace this seal. The seal's like three bucks and it takes two minutes to install. If you reuse the old seal and it leaks, you've got to pull your transmission again to fix it. That's hours of work to save three bucks. Don't do that to yourself. If you're doing a transmission rebuild, clutch job, or transmission swap, order a new shift rod seal with your parts so you've got it when you need it.

Clean the shift rod and the seal bore in your transmission case before you install the new seal. If there's old seal material stuck in the bore, scrape it out. Press the new seal in straight so it seats properly. If you install the seal crooked, it'll leak. Lube the seal lip with a little transmission fluid before you install the shift rod through it.
