Genuine Honda Ring Gear Bolts - B/F/H Series (Standard & Type R / LSD)

These are the genuine Honda bolts that hold the ring gear to the differential on B, F, and H-series transmissions, and there are two versions. Most applications use the standard bolt, but there's a stronger version from the B18C5 Type R transmission that's the one you want if you're running a limited-slip differential, which matters because the Type R was the only B-series that came with a factory LSD. The ring gear bolts are a critical, high-load fastener you don't reuse, so fit fresh ones any time the ring gear's off. Both are 10mm, sold individually, and you need 10 for the job.

Which Bolt You Need

The most important thing on this page, so read it before ordering.

90017-689-000 is the standard bolt, for the B16A, B17A, B18A, B18B, B18C1, and the F and H-series. This covers the vast majority of B/F/H-series transmissions, the GSR, LS/RS Integras, the Prelude and Accord H and F-series, and more. If you're refreshing one of those with a standard (open or stock) differential setup, this is your bolt.

90017-P80-000 is the B18C5 (Type R) bolt, from the only B-series transmission that came with a factory limited-slip differential. Because it was spec'd for an LSD, it's the stronger choice for the higher loads an LSD puts on the ring gear mounting.

Both are a 10mm ring gear bolt. Worth noting if you've worked on K-series transmissions: those use an 11mm ring gear bolt, so the B/F/H-series and K-series ring gear bolts are not interchangeable. Make sure you're ordering the 10mm bolt for a B, F, or H-series, not a K-series bolt.

Running An LSD? Use The Type R Bolts

This is the key recommendation, and it applies even if your transmission didn't come with an LSD.

If you're installing a limited-slip differential into any B-series transmission, we recommend the B18C5 Type R bolts (90017-P80-000), not the standard ones. An LSD puts more load on the ring gear mounting than an open diff, and since the Type R was the only B-series factory-equipped with an LSD, its bolts are the ones Honda specified for that duty. So even if your GSR or LS transmission came with the standard 689 bolts, stepping up to the P80 Type R bolts for an LSD install is the right call. Match the bolt to the diff, not just the transmission it came from.

Why The Ring Gear Bolt Matters

The ring gear is what the final drive turns, it takes all the engine's torque after the transmission and sends it to the differential and axles. The bolts holding that ring gear to the diff are under enormous load, and they're torque-to-yield fasteners, torqued to a precise spec that stretches them slightly to achieve the correct clamping force.

Because of that, you don't reuse ring gear bolts, once torqued to yield they've stretched and won't clamp correctly a second time. A fresh set is required any time you've had the ring gear off, whether that's an LSD swap, a differential service, or a final drive change. A loose or failed ring gear bolt is catastrophic inside a transmission, so this is a fastener you always replace with fresh, correct-spec bolts.

Sold Individually — You Need 10

These are sold individually, and a Honda ring gear uses 10 bolts. So any time you're adding fresh bolts for an LSD install, a final drive change, or a transmission rebuild, you need 10. Order 10 for the job, it's an easy quantity to under-order, and you don't want to be short with the transmission apart.

Fitment

90017-689-000 (standard, B16A/B17A/B18A/B18B/B18C1, F/H series):

1986-2001 Acura Integra (LS/RS/GS/GS-R and related)
1997-1999 Acura CL 2.3
1999-2000 Honda Civic Si
1994-1997 Honda Del Sol VTEC
1979-2002 Honda Accord (F/H series)
1979-2001 Honda Prelude (F/H series, incl. Type SH)

90017-P80-000 (B18C5 Type R, and recommended for any B-series LSD install):

1997-2001 Acura Integra Type R, and any B-series transmission running a limited-slip differential.

If you're refreshing a B, F, or H-series final drive, installing an LSD, or rebuilding a transmission, these are the genuine Honda ring gear bolts for the job, and the choice comes down to your diff setup. Use the standard 90017-689-000 for most applications, or step up to the stronger B18C5 Type R bolt (90017-P80-000) if you're running a limited-slip, since those are the bolts Honda spec'd for an LSD. They're 10mm (not the 11mm used on K-series, so don't mix them up), and torque-to-yield, so always fit fresh, never reuse, and order 10 for a complete ring gear.

Standard bolt: 90017-689-000 (B16A/B17A/B18A/B18B/B18C1, F/H series). Type R / LSD bolt: 90017-P80-000 (B18C5, recommended for any B-series LSD install). Size: 10mm (K-series uses 11mm; not interchangeable). Type: genuine Honda ring gear bolt, torque-to-yield. Quantity: sold individually, 10 required. Note: for an LSD, use the Type R (P80) bolts regardless of your transmission's original diff; we stock B-series limited-slip differentials.
