Honda BB6 Prelude Intake Arm Tube - 17228-P5M-A00
Your Prelude's intake tube cracked and now your idle's hunting all over the place? The factory rubber intake arm gets brittle after 20+ years of sitting above your exhaust manifold and it cracks. Honda part number 17228-P5M-A00 is the OEM replacement tube that connects your throttle body to your intake box on 1997-2001 Preludes. It's the accordion-style rubber elbow that routes air from your airbox to your H22A or H23A. When it cracks, you're sucking unmetered air past your MAF and your ECU's got no idea what's going on. Your fuel trims go lean, your idle hunts or stalls, and you might get a check engine light. Fresh OEM rubber fixes all that.
Here's Why These Tubes Always Crack
The intake tube sits right above your exhaust manifold. Every time you drive, it's getting heat-cycled from cold to screaming hot. After 20 years of that abuse, the rubber gets hard and brittle. You'll see cracks forming at the bends or where the tube connects to the throttle body. Once it's cracked, you're pulling unmetered air and your idle's gonna be all over the place. You're also probably running lean because your ECU doesn't know about the extra air coming in past the MAF sensor. Swapping in a fresh tube seals everything up and your car runs right again.
Works Great for H Swap EG/DC/EK Builds
Running an H series swap in your EG hatch, DC Integra, or EK Civic? This Prelude intake tube works as an OEM-style intake option. Most people doing H swaps run short ram intakes or big aluminum piping, but if you want a cleaner OEM+ look, the Prelude tube's a solid choice. It bolts right up to your H series throttle body. You'll need to fab some kind of airbox mounting or run a cone filter, but the tube itself fits perfectly. Way cleaner looking than a huge aluminum pipe sticking out of your engine bay.
Just the Tube, No Clamps or Resonator
You're getting just the rubber intake tube. No clamps, no resonator (the black plastic box that sits on top). You're reusing your factory clamps from your old tube or grabbing new ones. Most people ditch the resonator anyway because it's just there for sound deadening and it restricts airflow a bit. If you want the resonator, that's a different part number.
