HKS Intercooler Kit (13001-AH006) - 2016-2021 Honda Civic Hatchback 1.5T
The factory FK7 intercooler is 60mm thick and it runs out of capacity quickly once you're asking anything of the car. This HKS unit is 100mm thick and 142mm tall against a stock 112mm, which works out to substantially more core volume in the same front-mount position. More volume means charge air arriving cooler and staying cooler through repeated pulls.
Hatchback Only

This fits the FK7 five-door hatchback only. It does not fit the Civic coupe or sedan, even though they run the same L15B7 engine.
The hatchback's front end packaging differs enough that HKS built this specifically for it. If you're in a two-door or four-door, this isn't your intercooler.
Why The Factory Unit Runs Out
The stock intercooler is adequate for a stock car being driven normally. It stops being adequate in two situations.
The first is heat soak. An intercooler that can't shed heat fast enough lets intake temperatures climb, and when they do, the ECU pulls timing to prevent knock. You lose power, and you lose it progressively. Full power on the first pull, noticeably less by the third or fourth.
The second is added boost. Tune the car and you're pushing more air through the same core, which means more heat to reject through a unit that was sized for factory output.
Either way the intercooler becomes the limiting factor, and no amount of tuning works around a saturated core.
Nearly Double The Thickness
The numbers make it clear.
HKS core: 710 x 142 x 100mm
Factory core: 60mm thick, 112mm tall
Going from 60mm to 100mm thick and 112mm to 142mm tall gives you considerably more surface area for heat transfer. That's the whole mechanism: more surface area means more heat leaving the charge air before it reaches the engine.
And it mounts in the factory front position as a direct replacement, so you're not relocating anything or cutting up the front of the car.
Piping Is Included
The kit comes complete with the core, inlet pipe, outlet pipe, and hardware.
That matters because a larger core needs piping that mates to it properly. Buying a core alone and adapting factory pipes is where fitment problems come from, and HKS avoided that by supplying the whole charge path.
Sort The Whole Airflow Path
Practical ordering advice for anyone building out an FK7.
An intercooler handles the charge air temperature, but it's one section of a path that runs from the filter to the throttle body. A restrictive intake upstream limits what reaches the turbo, and a restrictive downpipe downstream limits how quickly the turbo can clear its exhaust. Fixing one while leaving the others is how people end up disappointed with a part that was working fine.
If more boost is in your plans, fit the intercooler first or alongside the rest. Tuning a car with a saturated intercooler means the tuner is working around a heat problem rather than around the engine, and you'll end up leaving power on the table or revisiting the tune after you fix the cooling.
Sort the airflow, then tune. That order gets you more for the same money.
