HKS Hi-Power Cat-Back Exhaust (3203-EX012) - 1994-2001 Acura Integra GS-R

The Hi-Power is HKS's most recognizable exhaust, and on a GS-R it's a natural fit. The B18C1 is an engine built to rev, and the design philosophy here is about not getting in its way: an offset muffler and optimized piping that minimizes restrictive bends for the most direct path out. On an engine that does its best work at the top of the tach, freeing up the exhaust is where the gains live.

Straight Path, Fewer Bends

This is the heart of the Hi-Power design and it comes directly from HKS's endurance and GT racing work in Japan.

Every bend in an exhaust is a restriction. Gas has to change direction, which slows it down and creates turbulence, and turbulent flow moves through a pipe considerably worse than smooth flow does. HKS lays these out with an offset muffler and a piping design that minimizes direction changes and keeps the path as direct as the chassis allows.

The GS-R benefits from that more than most. VTEC crossover puts the engine into a different breathing regime entirely, and a restrictive factory exhaust is exactly what caps it up top. Free that up and you get more of what the B18C1 was built to do.

The Gains Build With Your Build

Honest framing on what to expect. On a completely stock GS-R, a cat-back is a modest improvement, because the engine isn't yet producing enough exhaust volume to fully use a freer system.

Where it earns its keep is as the build progresses. Add an intake, a header, or cams, and the exhaust goes from adequate to the bottleneck. That's why the Hi-Power tends to be the exhaust people keep as they build rather than something they outgrow, it has the capacity ready for whatever comes next.

Sized For The Engine, Not For Show

The system runs 55mm piping into a 95mm outside diameter tip, and that sizing is deliberate.

Bigger isn't automatically better on exhaust. Oversize the piping on a 1.8 liter naturally aspirated engine and you lose exhaust gas velocity, which costs you the scavenging that pulls spent gas out of the cylinder. The result is a car that might post a marginally higher peak number and feels worse everywhere you actually drive.

55mm keeps velocity where the B18C1 lives while flowing considerably better than the restrictive factory system. It's the right size for the engine rather than the biggest pipe that fits.

SUS304 Stainless Throughout

The muffler and tip are SUS304 stainless, which is the practical reason these last. Stainless resists rust far better than mild steel, so this isn't an exhaust that rots out after a few winters of salt.

On a DC that's now twenty-five to thirty years old, that matters. A stainless system fitted today will almost certainly outlast whatever else you're doing to the car.

The Hi-Power Sound

Setting expectations honestly. The Hi-Power is a well-known tone in the Honda and Acura world, and it isn't a quiet exhaust. That's the point, and it's why people buy them.

What separates it from cheap alternatives is quality of sound rather than volume. It's a deeper, cleaner note rather than the raspy drone a poorly designed system produces, and on a GS-R climbing through VTEC it's genuinely one of the better sounding combinations out there.

Who Should Run This Exhaust

This is for the GS-R owner who wants a real name-brand exhaust rather than a generic one, and who's building the car in a direction where flow will matter. HKS has been doing this longer than most of these cars have existed, the stainless means you fit it once, and the sound is the one people recognize. Bolt it on and go find some revs.
