Goodridge G-Stop Stainless Brake Line Kit - 2016-2021 Honda Civic (Si or Non-Si)
If your 10th-gen Civic's brake pedal feels soft or vague under hard braking, part of that is your rubber brake lines flexing. As the factory rubber lines age and heat up, they expand under pressure, so some of your pedal effort balloons the lines instead of clamping the brakes, and the pedal goes vague. These Goodridge braided stainless lines fix that: a PTFE inner line wrapped in a stainless steel braid that doesn't expand, so the pedal stays firm and consistent. Whether you track your Si or just want your Civic to feel tighter under braking, it's a genuine upgrade over the soft factory setup, offered in versions for the Si and the non-Si trims.
Pick Your Variant: Si Or Non-Si
The most important thing to get right before ordering, because the Si and the non-Si trims use different brake lines.
Si is for the 2017-2020 Civic Si. The Si has a different (larger) brake setup than the base Civic, so it takes its own lines.
Non-Si is for the 2016-2021 Civic EX, LX, Sport, and Sport Touring.
Order the version that matches your car. If you've got the Si, choose the Si kit; if you've got any of the non-Si trims, choose that one. Matching the kit to your trim is what ensures the lines fit your brakes correctly.
Why Braided Lines Firm Up The Pedal
Here's what's actually happening, and what these do and don't change.
Rubber brake lines flex and expand under braking pressure, and that expansion is what you feel as a soft, spongy pedal, part of your foot pressure is stretching the lines instead of applying the brakes. It gets worse the harder and more repeatedly you brake, and as the factory rubber ages.
The stainless braid around these Goodridge lines doesn't expand the way rubber does, so all your pedal pressure goes straight to the calipers. The result is a firmer, more responsive pedal with a consistent, linear feel that holds up under hard braking where rubber lines go soft. To be clear about what braided lines do: they improve pedal feel and consistency, they're not a substitute for better pads, rotors, or tires if you're chasing shorter stopping distances, but for how the brakes feel and respond, the difference is immediate and genuine. On a tracked Si especially, a pedal that stays firm through a session is real braking confidence.
PTFE Core, Stainless Braid
The construction is what makes them firm and durable.
Each line is a PTFE inner line (which handles brake fluid and heat without degrading) inside a stainless steel overbraid that provides the firmness and protects the line from abrasion and corrosion. Stainless braided lines hold up far better over time than rubber, which cracks and degrades with age, and they look the part under the car too.
Goodridge is the name in braided brake lines, developed for motorsport, and these go through a nine-point quality-assurance process, each line tested for tensile strength and pressure-rated to 3,000 psi. They meet FMVSS 106 (the federal brake-hose safety standard), are DOT compliant, and are TÜV approved, so they're properly certified, not just a cosmetic braided line.
Complete Kit, Direct Bolt-On
Everything for the install is in the box.
This is a complete set of lines covering both front and rear, with the hardware to fit them, so there's nothing else to source. The hose ends and brackets are made to match your factory design, so it's a direct bolt-on replacement for the rubber lines, using your factory calipers with no modification. It's a straightforward swap, you're replacing the lines one for one and bleeding the system.
They're ABS-compatible, and on ABS-equipped cars they also help reduce the pedal chatter you can feel through soft rubber lines.
