Goodridge G-Stop Stainless Brake Line Kit - 2015-2020 Honda Fit (GK5)

The GK5 Fit has quietly become one of the best budget track cars out there, light, tossable, cheap to run, and with a huge following of people building them into genuine autocross and track-day weapons. But here's what a lot of those builds skip: the brakes, and especially the brake lines. People spend on coilovers, wheels, and seats, then run the car hard on tired factory rubber brake lines that go soft the moment things heat up. These Goodridge braided stainless lines are the cheap, high-value fix most GK5 builds overlook, a firmer, more consistent pedal exactly when you're braking hard into a corner.

The Upgrade Fit Builds Forget

Worth saying plainly, because it's the whole point for this car.

When people build a GK5 for track or autocross, brakes are usually an afterthought, maybe pads, rarely the lines. But on a car you're driving at the limit, the brake lines matter: the factory rubber lines flex and expand under hard braking, and that expansion is what makes the pedal go soft and vague a few hard stops in. You can have good pads and fresh fluid and still get a mushy pedal if the lines are ballooning.

Braided lines are one of the cheapest upgrades on the car and one of the most noticeable when you're driving hard. For what they cost, firming up the pedal is some of the best money you can spend on a track-built Fit, and it's exactly the piece most people don't think of until they're on track wondering why the pedal feels long.

Why Braided Lines Firm Up The Pedal

Here's what's actually happening, and what these do and don't change.

Rubber brake lines flex and expand under the pressure of hard braking, so part of your foot pressure stretches the lines instead of applying the brakes. It gets worse the harder and more repeatedly you brake and the hotter everything gets, which is exactly what happens on track or at an autocross.

The stainless braid around these Goodridge lines doesn't expand the way rubber does, so all your pedal pressure goes straight to the calipers. The result is a firmer, more responsive pedal with a consistent, linear feel that holds up under hard, repeated braking where rubber lines go soft. To be clear about what braided lines do: they improve pedal feel and consistency, they're not a substitute for better pads, rotors, or tires if you're chasing shorter stopping distances, but for how the brakes feel, especially a pedal that stays firm through a session, the difference is immediate and genuine. On a track-driven GK5, that firm, predictable pedal is real confidence under braking.

PTFE Core, Stainless Braid

The construction is what makes them firm and durable.

Each line is a PTFE inner line (which handles brake fluid and heat without degrading) inside a stainless steel overbraid that provides the firmness and protects the line from abrasion and corrosion. Stainless braided lines hold up far better over time than rubber, and they look the part under the car too.

Goodridge is the name in braided brake lines, developed for motorsport, and these go through a nine-point quality-assurance process, each line tested for tensile strength and pressure-rated to 3,000 psi. They meet FMVSS 106 (the federal brake-hose safety standard), are DOT compliant, and are TÜV approved, so they're properly certified, not just a cosmetic braided line.

Complete Kit, Direct Bolt-On

Everything for the install is in the box.

This is a complete set of lines covering both front and rear, with the hardware to fit them, so there's nothing else to source. The hose ends and brackets are made to match your factory design, so it's a direct bolt-on replacement for the rubber lines, using your factory calipers with no modification. It's a straightforward swap, you're replacing the lines one for one and bleeding the system, do it with fresh high-temp fluid and you've properly sorted the hydraulic side of a track brake setup.

They're ABS-compatible, and on ABS-equipped cars they also help reduce the pedal chatter you can feel through soft rubber lines.

Fitment

2015-2020 Honda Fit (GK5): EX, EX-L, LX, and Sport

Front and rear lines included. Direct fit, works with factory calipers.

This is for the GK5 Fit owner building the car for track days or autocross who doesn't want to overlook the brakes the way most Fit builds do. Braided stainless lines are the cheap, high-value upgrade that firms up the pedal exactly when you're braking hard, PTFE-core construction that doesn't balloon like the aging rubber, a complete front-and-rear kit, and motorsport-grade certification. It won't shorten your stopping distances on its own, but it keeps the pedal firm and predictable lap after lap, which is exactly what a track-built Fit needs and what most of them are missing. Bolt them on, bleed in fresh fluid, and stop running your fast little Fit on soft factory lines.
