Golden Era Parts Rear Hatch Upper Glass Side Seals - 1988-1991 Honda CRX
Look along the upper edges of your CRX's rear hatch glass, right where it meets the body on each side. If that rubber's cracked, shrunk, or missing altogether, you've found the source of that whistle or that damp spot in the back. Honda stopped making this seal a long time ago, so Golden Era Parts built a replacement that's modeled off genuine OEM parts, matching the shape and the fit of what your CRX rolled off the line with.
What These Seals Are Doing Up There
These two seals run along the upper sides of the rear glass, one on each side, sealing the gap between the glass and the body. When they're in good shape, you don't think about them at all. Once they dry out and shrink, that's when you start hearing wind noise around the back glass at speed, or finding water where it shouldn't be after it rains. On a thirty-plus-year-old CRX, that's just the rubber reaching the end of its life, and it's a straightforward fix once you've got the right seals on hand.
Built From The Real Thing, Both Sides Included
Golden Era Parts modeled this set off actual OEM parts, so you're getting both the left and right side seals, as pictured, with the ends cut the same way Honda cut them. That matters more than it sounds like, factory-cut ends tuck into the corners the way they're supposed to instead of leaving a gap or bunching up where the panels meet.
Tape's Already On There
Same as the EF hatch seals, these come with 3M double-sided tape pre-applied. Once the glass is out and the old seal's off, you clean the surface, peel the backing, and press the new seal into place. No extra adhesive to source, no guessing how much to use.
Real Talk On Installation
Here's the part you need to plan around: installing this seal properly means pulling the rear glass. That's the correct way to do it, and it's how Golden Era Parts designed this seal to go in. There's technically a shortcut, trimming off the adhesive backing and gluing the seal on with window adhesive without removing the glass, but that's not how this is meant to be installed and it's not something Golden Era Parts recommends. Glass removal on a car this age takes care and the right tools, so if you're not set up for it, this is a good one to hand off to a shop that's done it before.
Make Sure This Is Your CRX
This set fits the 1988-1991 Honda CRX in the US, or the 1988-1992 second generation CRX worldwide. That's the same CRX that runs the sunroof and hatch seals we carry elsewhere in the catalog, so if you're restoring the whole car, these are part of the same family of seals worth knocking out together.
