What It Is and Why It Works

Gates builds Micro-V belts to OE size, construction, and materials. K060578 is a standard automotive V-ribbed belt, K section, six ribs, 0.807 in (20 mm) top width, 57.81 in (1468 mm) effective length, and 58.378 in (1483 mm) outside circumference, all per manufacturer. The compound is EPDM with a polyester cord. EPDM shrugs off heat and ozone better than the old neoprene belts, and it doesn't crack on the rib face the way those did. The polyester cord keeps stretch down so tension stays put. Gates rates it to meet or exceed SAE J1459, J2432, and J1596. Each belt is form-ground for rib depth and spacing.

That's also the honest limit. This is a maintenance part, not a power adder. You're putting the car back to how it ran from the factory. A worn belt quietly drags everything it spins, and a snapped one leaves you with no charging, no steering assist, and no A/C. A fresh belt is cheap insurance against a bad afternoon. It is not the shorter no-A/C belt, and it is not a FleetRunner or RPM Micro-V.

EPDM belts fool you. They don't crack and fray on the outside. The ribs just wear thinner while the back still looks fine. If you don't know when the last belt went on, replace it. This is the A/C-equipped length. If your S2000 has no A/C (many CR cars), this belt is too long and you need a shorter number. It does not fit other Hondas on this page. What to Know Before You Buy

Follow the routing sticker in the engine bay. Don't do it from memory. Release the automatic tensioner, pull the old belt, thread the new one exactly like the diagram, then ease the tensioner back down. Give the routing one last look before you let it go. A belt that's off by one pulley won't drive everything and you'll be redoing it.
