Exedy OEM Clutch Slave Cylinder for K20Z and K24 Transmissions - Part #SC899

This is the slave for the later K-series 6-speeds: the K20Z3 Si, the K24Z7 Si, the 05-06 RSX Type-S and both TSX generations. It's also the slave most K-swaps end up with, because those are the transmissions people swap. Exedy's SC899 is the OE-style unit, and it's what to buy when the pedal has gone soft or the car started grinding into gear hot.

What It Is and Why It Works

The K-series external slave bolts to the transmission and pushes the release fork. When the cup seal wears the piston bypasses internally, so the pedal builds pressure slowly and the release point moves. When the outer seal goes the reservoir drops and you're pulling air. On a swapped car with a header running past it, seals go faster.

SC899 keeps the factory bore, stroke and bolt pattern so release travel is unchanged. Anodized aluminum body, honed bore, EPDM seals. Exedy GlobalParts is Honda's OE clutch supplier; this is the part in the Honda box under an Exedy label.

The 2002-2004 RSX and 2002-2005 Civic Si use the earlier K-series slave, Exedy SC895.

What to Know Before You Buy

If you're swapping, buy this with the transmission. Used K-series slaves are almost always tired, and it's the cheapest part in the whole hydraulic system.

Bleed with fresh DOT 3 and check the pedal freeplay afterward. If the pedal still won't firm up, the master is bypassing; MC502 is the K-series master.

Pushrod length is application-specific on K-series. Don't swap the rod from an older RSX slave onto this one.
