Exedy OEM Clutch Master Cylinder for F and H-Series - Part #MC234

Soft pedal on your Prelude, engagement point that moves around on the Accord, a damp spot on the firewall carpet: the clutch master is done. Exedy's MC234 is the OE-style replacement for the F and H-series cars from 1990 through 2001, the same unit Honda boxes under 46920-SM4-A03, without the dealer markup.

What It Is and Why It Works

The master converts pedal travel into hydraulic pressure for the slave on the bellhousing. When the bore scores or the cup seals harden, pressure bypasses the piston and the pedal loses its return and its consistency. A rebuild kit rarely fixes a scored bore; a new cylinder does.

MC234 keeps the factory bore and stroke so pedal effort and release travel stay exactly stock. Aluminum body, honed bore, EPDM seals. Exedy GlobalParts (the old Daikin Clutch USA) is Honda's OE clutch supplier, so this is the same part under a different label.

What to Know Before You Buy

Do the slave at the same time. Exedy SC642 is the match for every car on this list. A fresh master against an original slave is the usual reason a system won't hold a bleed.

Full bleed with fresh DOT 3 afterward. On the Prelude the bleeder is hard to reach; a pressure bleeder or a helper on the pedal saves a lot of swearing.

Set pedal freeplay to spec once it's in. Too little freeplay keeps the piston off its return stop and the new seals wear early.
