Energy Suspension Steering Rack Bushings for 06-11 Civic Si
If your 8th gen Si has developed a little play or vagueness in the steering, worn rack bushings are a common cause. The factory rubber mounts that hold your steering rack to the chassis go soft and let the rack shift slightly when you turn in, which shows up as a dead spot on-center and a delay between your hands and the front tires. This Energy Suspension set replaces that worn rubber with polyurethane that locks the rack down, so your inputs go straight to the wheels.
It's one of the cheapest upgrades you can make on the car, and the payoff is immediate. Steering feels tighter and more direct, on-center slop goes away, and you get more feedback through the wheel. Owners commonly describe it as cutting their steering play in half. The polyurethane also holds up to the oil and road grime that rot the factory rubber, so once it's in, it stays tight.
The honest tradeoff
Like any poly bushing, this firms things up, so you'll feel a bit more road texture and steering feedback than you did on stock rubber. On a car you actually enjoy driving, that's the point. Use the included grease on install to keep it quiet, that's the main thing that prevents squeaks down the road.
