Energy Suspension Master Bushing Kit - 1992-2001 Honda Prelude

This is the do-it-all bushing kit for your Prelude. Instead of swapping one shot bushing at a time, the master set hits nearly every suspension and chassis bushing on the car at once, all in polyurethane. On a Prelude that's now 20 to 30 years old and still riding on its original rubber, this is how you take a car that's gone loose, vague, and rattly and bring the whole chassis back to tight and connected. And if you've added power or you actually drive yours hard, fresh poly bushings make an even bigger difference, because worn factory rubber just can't hold the geometry when you're leaning on that double-wishbone suspension the Prelude is famous for.

What Worn-Out Bushings Are Doing To Your Prelude

Here's why an old Prelude starts feeling tired. The factory rubber bushings have spent decades cracking, sagging, and getting soft, and once they do, your suspension starts moving in ways it shouldn't. That's what you feel as a car that wanders down the highway, clunks over bumps, and gets vague and floaty right when you want it to be sharp. Energy's Hyper-Flex polyurethane replaces all that worn rubber and locks your suspension geometry back where it belongs. Turn-in gets crisp again, the car tracks straight under braking, and it holds an alignment far better than tired rubber ever could. Poly also shrugs off the oil and grime that wore out your originals, so this is the kind of job you do once and don't think about again.

The Honest Tradeoff: Firmer, Not Softer

Be straight with yourself before you buy this, because poly isn't a free upgrade. Polyurethane is firmer than rubber, so a full master kit makes your Prelude noticeably tighter and a little buzzier than stock, you'll feel more of the road and hear a bit more through the chassis. On a sporty car like the Prelude that you enjoy driving, that's exactly the trade you want, it's the price of a chassis that finally feels connected. But if you're after a plush, isolated daily, a full poly master kit is more than you're looking for. And here's the single most important install tip: use plenty of the included grease on every bushing when you put it in. That's the one thing that keeps poly quiet and heads off the squeak these are known for if you skimp on it.

Plan For A Real Job

Set your expectations on the work too. This is a complete bushing refresh, which means nearly every old bushing has to be pressed out and the new poly pressed in, and you're touching control arms, shocks, and more all around the car. So plan on a serious weekend with a press, or a good chunk of shop time if you're farming it out. It's not a quick afternoon, but doing it all at once is way smarter than chasing one worn bushing at a time and pulling the same parts apart over and over.

What's In The Kit

This master set covers most of the suspension and chassis bushings on the car in Energy's Hyper-Flex polyurethane, and it includes Energy's Formula 5 grease to install them with. Some pieces in a master kit only apply to certain configurations (things like power steering versus manual steering, or manual-transmission-only pieces), so the kit is built so you install the parts that match your specific car. Red and black are offered, and they're the same hardness, the black is graphite-impregnated to be a little more self-lubricating, while red is purely a color choice, so pick whichever you prefer.

Fits These Cars

  • 1992-1996 Honda Prelude (BB1-BB4)
  • 1997-2001 Honda Prelude (BB5-BB9)

Note: Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex polyurethane master bushing kit for the 1992-2001 Honda Prelude. It replaces nearly every worn factory rubber suspension and chassis bushing on the car at once with polyurethane to restore tight, precise handling, sharper turn-in, straighter tracking under braking, and better alignment retention, while resisting the oil and grime that wear out rubber. Includes Energy's Formula 5 grease. Polyurethane rides firmer and a bit buzzier than stock, so it suits a sporty or hard-driven car more than a plush daily; grease every bushing thoroughly on install to keep it quiet. Offered in red and black, which are the same hardness (black is graphite-impregnated to be slightly more self-lubricating, red is a color choice). This is a press-in/press-out job covering the control arms, shocks, and more, so plan for a full weekend or shop time. Confirm your Prelude generation before ordering. One master bushing kit per order.
