The FK8 Type R already sits lower than any other 10th gen Civic, so most lowering springs for it are about closing the wheel gap without wrecking what Honda got right. Eibach's Sportline is the aggressive one of its two FK8 spring sets: about a one inch drop in front and a bit under an inch in the rear, on the factory adaptive dampers, for the 2017-2021 Civic Type R.

What It Is and Why It Works

Sportline springs use a progressive rate, softer in the first part of travel for ride quality and stiffer as the spring compresses, which is what lets Eibach drop the car this far and still have it ride on the stock dampers. Lowering the center of gravity reduces roll in corners, squat under power, and dive under braking, and a stiffer effective rate keeps the adaptive dampers working in their range instead of on the bump stops. Eibach tested this set on the factory FK8 dampers, including the adaptive damper system, and it's the set to buy if you want the car noticeably lower rather than subtly lower. The milder option is Eibach's Pro-Kit for the FK8 (E10-40-036-03-22).

What to Know Before You Buy

Eibach requires its rear camber kit (5.67476K) with these springs; the FK8's rear multilink gains negative camber fast as it drops, and without the kit you'll chew the inside edge of a set of 245s in a season. Book the alignment for the same week as the install. Wheel gap is the visible win, but the real change is how much flatter the car turns in; if you track the car, the drop also lowers the bump stop margin, so don't stack Sportline springs with a heavier wheel and tire package and expect the factory dampers to keep up. The Pro-Kit is the better choice if the car spends its life on rough roads or steep driveways.
