Description
Deatschwerks Inline Fuel Filter Kit 8AN 100 Micron/10 Micron
Your fuel pump can only flow as well as the fuel it pulls in. On a stock Honda, the pump sits in the tank behind a factory sock and filter. Move to an external pump or a surge tank setup and that protection's gone, so whatever's sitting in the tank gets pulled into the pump. That means rust flakes, sediment, and grit from an old sending unit. A pump that's eating debris wears out early, and it usually quits at full load, when you need it most.
A 100 micron element catches that debris before it reaches the pump. It's coarse enough not to fight the pump on the suction side, too. You won't feel it working. You'll just keep a pump that flows like it did on day one, instead of chasing a pressure drop down the road. If you're running E85, this matters even more. Ethanol strips old varnish out of a tank and lines, and all of it heads straight for the pump.
Which Micron Rating You Need
DeatschWerks makes this kit in two element ratings, and they're not interchangeable. The 100 micron element goes before the pump. It stops the chunks that hurt a pump without making it work to pull fuel through. The 10 micron element goes after the pump, between the pump and the rail. It catches the fine particles that can stick an injector open. Put a 10 micron element on the suction side and you're asking for cavitation and a starved pump. A lot of serious builds run both: a 100 micron before the pump and a 10 micron after it.
Washable Stainless Element
The 100 micron element is woven stainless mesh, not paper, so you can clean it and reuse it. When it's due for service, pull it, clean it out with solvent, let it dry, and put it back in. Paper elements break down in ethanol, so the stainless mesh is also why this element is rated for E85.
ORB Ports and Install Notes
The housing uses -8 ORB (O-ring boss) ports. An ORB port has a straight thread, and an O-ring on the fitting does the sealing, not the threads. That means no thread tape and no tapered pipe threads to over-tighten and crack. You'll thread in -8 ORB fittings that match the hose and hose ends you're running. This filter is universal, so you'll plan the routing yourself. Mount it securely so it isn't hanging off the hose, make sure it's facing the right flow direction, and leak-check at pressure before you drive.
Fitment
- Universal: fuel systems plumbed with -8AN line
- 100 micron element: install before the fuel pump (suction side)
- 10 micron element: install after the fuel pump (pressure side)
- Not a direct replacement for the in-tank filter in a factory Honda/Acura pump module
