Description
DeatschWerks 3/8in Hose Barb 10 Micron In-Line Fuel Filter
Not every fuel upgrade comes with a full AN-line replumb. Plenty of Honda builds get a higher-flow pump and bigger injectors, and the rest of the system stays on regular rubber fuel hose. The trouble is the fuel that leaves the pump. On a factory setup, the filter lives in the tank. Once you've changed the pump, moved it outside the tank, or added parts to the line, there's often nothing catching debris between the pump and the injectors. Even a little grit can hold an injector open, and you're running a cylinder lean before you know anything's wrong.
This kit adds a 10 micron filter right in the hose you already run. You won't feel any difference behind the wheel. What you get is injectors that stay clean and fuel pressure that holds steady. Since the housing is only 70mm, it'll tuck in along a frame rail or under the car where a full-size canister filter won't fit.
Hose Barb vs. AN: Which One You Want
A 3/8" hose barb is the easy way in. You slide the hose on, clamp it, and you're done, with no AN hose ends or adapters to buy. That's a good fit for a street car or a mild build on standard hose. But a clamped barb can't match an AN fitting for keeping a seal under pressure. Use hose rated for EFI pressure and fuel-injection clamps, not cheap worm-gear clamps or low-pressure carb hose. If you're making big power or already running AN line, look at the -8AN or -10AN versions of this filter instead.
Where 10 Micron Belongs
Ten microns is fine. A human hair is around 70 microns thick, so this element catches particles far smaller than anything you'd see in a fuel sample. That's the right rating after the pump, protecting the injectors. Don't put it before the pump. An element this fine on the suction side makes the pump work to pull fuel through it, and that can cause cavitation and starve the pump. If you need filtering before the pump, use a coarser 100 micron element there.
Install Notes
This is a universal filter, so you'll plan the routing yourself. Mount it after the pump, facing the right flow direction, and clamp it to the chassis so its weight isn't hanging on the hose. Fit each hose fully onto the barb and clamp it behind the barb's ridge. Then leak-check with the system at pressure before you drive. Check it at your regular service intervals, and more often right after any fuel system work, since that's when loose debris tends to show up.
Fitment
- Universal: fuel systems using 3/8" (approx. 9.5mm) ID fuel hose
- Install after the fuel pump (pressure side)
- Not a direct replacement for the in-tank filter in a factory Honda/Acura pump module
