Description

DeatschWerks -10AN 10 Micron Compact In-Line Fuel Filter Kit (70mm) - Universal

Your factory Honda fuel system doesn't have a filter out in the lines. It's built into the pump module inside the tank. Add an external pump, a surge tank, or a return-style system plumbed in -10AN, and that factory filter no longer protects the fuel heading to your rail. Rust, bits of hose liner, sediment from the tank all go straight to the injectors. E85 makes it worse. Ethanol's a solvent, so it'll loosen years of varnish from a tank and lines that looked clean on pump gas.

So what does a filter actually get you? Nothing you'll feel on the dyno. It pays off in what doesn't happen: no injector stuck open and running a cylinder lean, no fuel pressure drifting at the top of a pull because something's partly blocked. DeatschWerks kept this housing compact, so you can tuck it along a frame rail or near the tank where a big canister filter won't fit. We run this kit on our own cars when there isn't room for anything bigger.

What 10 Micron Actually Means

A micron is a thousandth of a millimeter. A human hair is around 70 microns thick, so this element stops particles far smaller than anything you'd spot in a fuel sample. That's what you want between the pump and the rail. Don't put it before the pump. An element this fine on the suction side makes the pump work to pull fuel through it, and that can cause cavitation and starve the pump. If your setup needs filtering before the pump, put a coarser element there and keep this one on the pressure side.

-10AN Ports and Compact Packaging

A lot of high-flow and E85 builds run -10AN feed line, and this filter's ports are the same size. You aren't stepping down to a smaller fitting at the filter and back up again. If your system is plumbed in -6 or -8, you'd need adapters, and a filter made for your line size is probably the cleaner choice. The 70mm housing is what lets it fit where packaging is tight, which is the main reason to pick this kit over a full-size canister.

Install Notes

This filter is universal, so it isn't a bolt-on for any one chassis. You'll plan the routing, supply the line and hose ends your system needs, and mount the housing solidly so it isn't hanging off the hose. Install it after the pump, facing the right flow direction, and check for leaks at full pressure before you drive. Filters wear out, too. If you just switched to E85, check this one more often for the first few months. That's when the ethanol flushes the most junk out of the tank.

Fitment

  • Universal: fuel systems plumbed with -10AN line
  • Install after the fuel pump, on the pressure side
  • Not a direct replacement for the in-tank filter in a factory Honda/Acura pump module
  • DeatschWerks part number: 8-03-70C-010K
