The Competition Clutch Rigid Twin Disc is for K-series cars that are way past what a single disc can hang with. If you’re putting serious power through a K20A2, K20A3, K20Z1, or K20Z3 and need a real Racing Clutch K20Z1 or Twin Disc Clutch K20A2, this is the kind of setup you run in a legit race car, not a lightly-bolted street build. It fits right in on a high-rev road race engine, a big-turbo street/strip car, or a track-only monster that lives at redline.
This High Performance Clutch Acura setup uses a ceramic twin disc, a 4140 forged steel flywheel, a lightweight 6061-T6 aluminum cover, and a 6150 diaphragm spring. Together, that combo keeps clamping force and heat control under you when you’re doing hard launches and back-to-back pulls. Installation Notes
This is a full clutch and flywheel kit, so you're pulling the transmission to do this job. On RSX and Civic Si platforms that's a straightforward but time-consuming process. Budget a full day if you're doing this in your garage with a helper, longer if it's your first K-series trans drop.
Use the included alignment tool to center the disc assembly before torquing the pressure plate. Skipping this step makes transmission reinstallation much harder than it needs to be.
The pilot bushing installs in the crankshaft before the flywheel goes on. Don't forget it; it's easy to overlook when you're focused on the flywheel and disc stack.
Because this is a ceramic twin-disc kit with a rigid hub, pedal feel and engagement behavior will be noticeably different from a street clutch. Engagement is sharp and the bite point is more defined. Give yourself time to relearn the engagement before your first hard launch.
No published break-in procedure from Competition Clutch exists specifically for this twin-disc kit. Contact Competition Clutch directly or consult your installer for their recommended heat-cycling and break-in process before running it at full load.
Tools you'll need include a transmission jack, flywheel holding tool, torque wrench, and standard metric and SAE hand tools. This job does not require specialized equipment beyond what most enthusiast garages already have, but it does require proper torque specs for the flywheel and pressure plate bolts. Get those from Competition Clutch directly or your vehicle's service manual before you start.
Technical Specifications
Competition Clutch part number 4-8037-C. This is a 184mm ceramic twin-disc kit built around a rigid (unsprung) hub. Here's what that means in practice: there's no spring damper absorbing shock between the disc and the input shaft. That's intentional. At the torque and shock-load levels this kit handles, a sprung hub becomes a failure point. The rigid hub holds up; a street-spec sprung hub doesn't.
The flywheel is 4140 forged steel, which is a high-chromium alloy chosen for its toughness under repeated heat cycling. The pressure plate cover is 6061-T6 aluminum, keeping unsprung rotating weight down without sacrificing rigidity. The diaphragm spring is 6150 steel, a spring steel alloy that maintains clamping load after repeated hard engagements. The disc material is ceramic on both discs.
Competition Clutch rates this kit at 500 to 1200hp depending on application. No published lb-ft torque figure exists from Competition Clutch or their authorized retailers for this specific kit, so we're not going to invent one. What we can tell you is that multiple authorized retailers list this identically, and the hp range reflects real variance based on engine configuration, traction, and shock load.
The replacement lower (engine-side) disc uses a 1-1/32 inch x 24-spline input shaft spec. If you're sourcing a replacement disc later, that's the number you need.
Complete kit weight is approximately 8.7 kg (19.2 lbs) for the full assembly.
This kit is designated OFF-ROAD USE ONLY. It does not meet the requirements for street or emissions-legal use. If your car sees any public road time, this is not the right clutch.
