PRODUCT DETAILS

Competition Clutch Kit, 92-93 Integra

If the clutch in your 92-93 Integra is slipping every time you get into the upper revs, or you've got a B17A GS-R or B18A LS that's asking more of a 30-year-old disc than Acura ever planned, the Competition Clutch kit for the 1992-1993 Integra (part family 8027) is the cable-clutch fix. You're on B17A or B18A only, not a B18B and not a 94-up hydraulic 8026 car, and you pick Stock (8027-STOCK), Stage 1 (8027-2400), or Stage 1.5 (8027-1500) based on how you actually drive.

What It Is and Why It Works

Stock (8027-STOCK) is Competition Clutch's OE-style organic full-face kit. It matches original torque capacity and factory pedal feel, per manufacturer, so it's the replacement you want when the clutch is worn and the motor is still stock or lightly bolted on. It isn't a power-handling upgrade.

Stage 1 (8027-2400) is the Gravity Series 2400 kit, and you need to read this part twice: the spec table on this SKU is a ceramic 6-paddle disc, not an organic street disc. Competition Clutch rates Stage 1 at about 40 to 50 percent more torque than stock, with a factory-like pedal, and says don't use it with a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous. That published percent is higher than Stage 1.5. Engagement is more positive than a full-face organic, so parking-lot starts won't feel like a new factory clutch. Stage 1.5 (8027-1500) is the organic full-face option on this chassis. Competition Clutch rates it at about 30 to 40 percent more torque than stock, with a stock-like pedal, and the same no-boost rule. If you want the daily-friendly step up from Stock, that's 8027-1500, not the ceramic Stage 1.

Each kit includes the pressure plate, one disc, an alignment tool, a pilot bushing, and a throwout bearing. A flywheel is not included. Don't reuse a glazed DA flywheel and expect a fresh disc to save you.

This kit is for 92-93 Integra B17A and B18A cable cars only. It doesn't fit a B18B, and it doesn't fit the 1994-2001 Integra (that's the hydraulic 8026 family). The 1990-1991 Integra uses the 8017 family. If you swapped a later B18B or B18C into this chassis and kept the 92-93 cable box, you're still in 8027 territory. If you converted to a hydraulic transmission, you're not.

What to Know Before You Buy

Don't order Stage 1 thinking it's the mild organic kit. On this chassis, 8027-2400's own table is ceramic 6-paddle, so you'll feel a more sudden bite than Stock or Stage 1.5. If you daily the car in traffic and you want it to drive like a new factory clutch, take Stage 1.5. Take Stage 1 when you want the extra published holding power and you'll live with a paddle disc. Competition Clutch rates Stage 1 higher than Stage 1.5 on percent-over-stock, and that's what they publish, so we aren't going to "fix" it.

Take the 500-mile break-in seriously. Shift often, stay out of launches, and let the disc bed in. Skip it and you'll chase chatter and blame the kit. The flywheel isn't included, so resurface yours or replace it while the transmission is out. A glazed flywheel will eat a new ceramic or organic disc either way.

While you're in there, inspect the clutch cable, the rear main seal, and the throwout arm. On a 92-93 DA those are usually original. If boost is in the plan, neither Stage 1 nor Stage 1.5 is the kit Competition Clutch wants on a turbo car. Buy the stage for the car you're building.

Competition Clutch install instructions require replacing or resurfacing the flywheel and replacing the pilot bearing or bushing. Clean rust inhibitor off friction surfaces before assembly. Use the alignment tool and confirm disc orientation. Do not over-grease the hub.

A 500 to 700 mile break-in with normal street driving is required per the manufacturer install sheet. Failure to follow the published install steps voids the warranty.

Stage 1 (8027-2400) spec table is ceramic 6-paddle, not organic. Stage 1 is rated about 40-50% over stock and is not for forced induction. Stage 1.5 is full-face organic at about 30-40% over stock. Stock matches original torque capacity.

Pressure plate, clutch disc, alignment tool, pilot bushing, and throwout bearing. Flywheel is not included.
