Competition Clutch B Series Twin Disc Clutch Kit

The Competition Clutch B series twin disc clutch kit, part 4-8026-C, is a race clutch for B series builds that have left single disc territory behind. Competition Clutch rates it at 750 to 900 HP, which is big turbo B18 and B16 country: back-half drag Integras, roll racers, and serious street-strip EG and EK swap cars. If your GS-R or Type R makes bolt-on power, this is not your clutch. If you are spinning a built B18C past 9000 rpm with 30 plus psi behind it, this is exactly the sort of hardware that keeps the power reaching the wheels.

What It Is and Why It Works

This is a twin disc system: two ceramic rigid hub discs with a floater plate between them, clamped by a 6061-T6 aluminum cover with a 6150 steel diaphragm, all mounted on an included 4140 forged steel flywheel. Splitting the work across two discs multiplies torque capacity without resorting to brutal clamp loads, so pedal effort stays reasonable for what the clutch holds. Per manufacturer the assembly is plug and play on hydraulic B series transmissions with no gearbox modifications, and the kit ships with the flywheel, discs, pressure plate assembly, release bearing, flywheel bolts, and alignment tool. Individual discs and floaters are serviceable, so a worn friction pack is a rebuild, not a full repurchase.

Fitment

Year Make Model Trim Engine
1994-2001 Acura Integra RS, LS, GS, GS-R, Special Edition, Type R B18B1, B18C1, B18C5
1999-2000 Honda Civic Si B16A2
1994-1997 Honda Civic del Sol VTEC B16A2, B16A3
1997-2001 Honda CR-V LX, EX, SE B20B4, B20Z2

Fitment follows the transmission, so B series swap cars with a hydraulic gearbox, an EG or EK Civic with a B18C and hydro trans for example, are covered even though the chassis is not listed. Cable transmission cars (1990-1993 Integra, 1988-1991 Civic and CRX with the cable B16) are not, unless they have converted to hydraulic actuation.

What to Know Before You Buy

Go in with clear expectations, because this is a race clutch first. Rigid hub ceramic discs and an unsprung floater mean it rattles at idle with the pedal up, chatters when you slip it, and engages with far less forgiveness than any street clutch. That noise is normal for a twin disc and not a warranty problem, but if the rattle would bother you in a daily, buy a Stage 3 or Stage 4 single disc instead and give up the headroom. Budget for the supporting cast too: at 750 plus HP you should already be looking at upgraded axles, mounts, and a healthy clutch hydraulic system, because the factory master and slave are the weak link behind a clutch like this. Break the assembly in per Competition Clutch's instructions before full-power launches so the new friction surfaces bed evenly. For a dedicated B series drag or roll race build, we think this kit is one of the most cost-effective ways into genuine twin disc holding power, and the serviceable disc pack is what makes it liveable season over season.
