Cometic EGR Passage Gasket for K20Z3 and K24 - Part #C14132-010

The EGR passage on the K20Z3 and K24 runs between the head and the intake manifold, and the gasket there gets forgotten on every intake manifold swap until the car throws an EGR flow code or starts idling like it has a vacuum leak. Cometic's C14132-010 is the rubber-coated stainless replacement. Cheap, and it belongs on the parts list for any K24 intake manifold or head job.

What It Is and Why It Works

It's a single stainless layer with a rubber coating, .010 in, cut to the EGR passage on the K20Z3 and K24A/Z heads. The coating takes up the small imperfections in the cast surfaces; the stainless doesn't blow out under the exhaust pressure that pulses through the passage. Reusing the old one is a coin flip that usually lands on a P0401.

K-series heads with the EGR passage only. The K20A2, K20A3 and K20Z1 (RSX, EP3) have no EGR and do not use this gasket.

What to Know Before You Buy

If you're deleting EGR on a swap, you don't need this; you need a block-off plate. If you're keeping it, replace the gasket every time the intake manifold comes off, because the old one tears on removal more often than not.

Clean both surfaces. The passage carbons up badly on high-mileage K24s, and a scraped-clean face is the difference between a seal and a code two weeks later.

Buy two. It's a few dollars and it saves a second order when the manifold has to come back off for something else.
