Cometic D-Series Oil Pan Gasket - Part #C4660

The D-series oil pan gasket is a rubber ring that hardens, shrinks, and leaves a stripe of oil down the back of the pan on every EF and EG that's still on the road. Cometic's C4660 is an aramid fiber composite replacement that doesn't harden with age and holds up to being reused if you have to drop the pan again for a baffle or a rod. It's the right piece for a rebuild and the right piece for a 30-year-old daily that just needs to stop marking its spot.

What It Is and Why It Works

Aramid composite (Cometic calls it a Kevlar composite) is a fiber-reinforced sheet that seals against cast surfaces that aren't perfect and doesn't extrude when the pan bolts are overtightened, which is how most D-series pan leaks start in the first place. It seals the same bolt pattern as the factory gasket on the D15, D16 and the 86-89 Integra's D16A1, with the stock steel pan or an aftermarket baffled pan.

D-series blocks only. The 96-00 D16Y pan uses the same pattern per most catalogs but is not in Cometic's listed application; ask us before ordering for an EK.

What to Know Before You Buy

Clean the block rail and the pan flange to bare metal and check the pan flange for dimples around the bolt holes; a hammered pan flange won't seal with any gasket until it's flattened.

Torque the pan bolts to Honda's spec, which is low. Overtightening is what killed the last gasket.
