Important: You Need A Single-Mass Flywheel
Here's the deal, and it's the thing that'll trip you up if you miss it. Your TL came from the factory with a dual-mass flywheel and a rigid (non-sprung) clutch disc. This FX100 kit uses a sprung disc instead, and that sprung disc will only work with an aftermarket single-mass flywheel, it will not bolt up to your stock dual-mass unit. So you need to grab the matching single-mass flywheel, Clutch Masters part FW-147-AL, along with this clutch. Buy them together and you're set. Try to run this clutch on your factory flywheel and it won't work, so don't skip the flywheel.
Why That Conversion Is A Good Thing
Don't sweat the single-mass requirement, because it's actually an upgrade. Those factory dual-mass flywheels are heavy and have springs inside that wear out and start rattling as the miles pile up, and they're not cheap to replace with another dual-mass. Going to a single-mass flywheel ditches all that, you get a lighter, more responsive, more durable setup with nothing inside to fail. And since this clutch uses a sprung disc, that disc takes over the job of smoothing out engagement, so you keep things civil even without the dual-mass. It's the standard, proven way to set these cars up.
Who It's Dialed In For
On the power side, the FX100 is the streetable end of the range. It's built for a street-driven TL with minor bolt-ons, think an intake, an exhaust, up to around 50 horsepower of nitrous, or similar non-forced-induction stuff. For that kind of car it's the sweet spot: more clamp to hold your power, longer life than the factory clutch, and no race-clutch harshness. If you're boosted or chasing bigger numbers, step up to a stronger FX level, but for a clean street setup, this is the one.

Even with the extra holding power, this thing stays easy to live with. The steel-backed organic disc uses a Marcel spring wafer between the friction faces for soft, progressive engagement instead of an on-off grab, so it takes up clean and predictable every time. Pedal effort is only a touch heavier than stock, and it engages and disengages with normal, factory-like feel. You get the capability without dreading traffic.

That 70% bump in holding capacity comes from Clutch Masters' Power Plus I heavy-duty pressure plate. The extra clamping force keeps the clutch from slipping once you've freed up more power, so you can actually put it to the ground. It's built for extended wear too, so it holds up to daily driving.
