BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 98-02 Accord (CG/CF), 01-03 Acura CL (YA4) & 99-03 Acura TL (UA5)

You've already got the motor. That's the part people forget about these cars. Honda put a real engine in here, whether that's an F23 that loves to rev or a J-series V6 that pulls like a freight train, and in the CL and TL Type-S they handed you 260 horsepower back when that was genuinely a lot. So the power was never the problem. The problem is what happens the moment you try to use it: the nose lifts, the wheel tugs at you, the car leans over and pushes wide, and all that grunt just turns into noise and tire smoke. These cars have been waiting for someone to fix the suspension underneath them.

Power You Can't Use Isn't Power

Here's what's actually happening when you get on it. Your J32 makes its torque low and sends it all through the front wheels, and your factory suspension was tuned in a boardroom to keep an Acura customer comfortable, not to keep a loaded front end planted. So you plant your foot and the car squats, unloads the front, and the wheel starts hunting for a lane. Same story in a corner, the body rolls over onto the outside tire, the front gives up, and you're washing wide with a motor that's begging for more. Fixing that isn't about adding anything. It's about giving the chassis enough control to let the engine you already paid for actually do its job.

Nurture It And It Turns Into Something Else

These cars respond to attention in a way people don't expect, and suspension is where it starts. Get the damping under control and the body settled, and everything downstream changes, the front end stays loaded when you're on the power, turn-in gets sharp instead of vague, and the car starts holding a line you have to work for. That's when a CG Accord or a TL stops being your dad's car and starts being the thing people look at twice in the parking lot and can't quite place. All the ingredients were in the box the whole time. You're just finally reading the instructions.

Rates That Suit The Car You Actually Have

This kit runs 9 kg/mm front and 3.6 kg/mm rear, and that soft rear rate is deliberate. These are big, front-heavy cars, and BC tests each application rather than dumping the stiffest springs on the shelf into every kit like a lot of brands do. Hold the front end up firmly enough to keep it planted under power, let the rear stay compliant enough to keep the car settled and the inside tire down, and you get a car that's genuinely composed instead of one that's just harsh. Body roll goes away. The commute survives. If you want to go further, custom spring rates, Swift springs, and custom valving matched to your rates are all available.

Thirty Clicks, Because Your Car Has Two Jobs

These cars pull double duty and the suspension should too. You get 30 clicks of compression and rebound adjustment, dialed together with one knob, so it's about ten seconds a corner to change the car's whole personality. Soften it up for the highway and it's the comfortable Accord or TL it always was. Firm it up on a Saturday morning and it's a different animal. Most suspension makes you pick one. This doesn't.

Low, But Not At The Expense Of The Car

Ride height adjusts independently of spring compression, meaning you drop the car by moving the lower mount instead of squashing the spring down. Your suspension keeps its travel, so the damper still has room to work and the car still absorbs a road instead of skipping across it. That matters even more on something this size, a big sedan slammed on collapsed springs rides worse than almost anything else on the road. Do it properly and you get the stance and the composure.

RS Type Top Hats

This set runs RS type top hats, which mount with rubber. The rubber isolates road noise and vibration instead of piping it straight into the cabin, and on a comfortable car that you're keeping comfortable, that's the right call. You gain all the adjustability without giving up the refinement that made you like the car in the first place.

Built To Be Kept

Mono-tube shocks with a linear piston and damping curve, so damping stays predictable through the whole stroke rather than getting strange at the extremes. Two-year warranty against manufacturer defect. And they're fully rebuildable, so when they eventually wear out, you send them in for a refresh instead of buying another set. Buy once, keep tuning.
