BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 2011-2016 Honda CR-Z (ZF1 / ZF2)

Let's talk about the car the CR-Z was supposed to be. When Honda showed it off, enthusiasts got excited for one reason: it looked like the return of the CRX, the featherweight two-door that carved corners and put a grin on your face. That was the promise. The reality landed a little softer. The hybrid drivetrain left it down on the punch people wanted, and the CR-Z got saddled with a reputation as the successor that didn't quite deliver. Here's the thing everyone overlooked, though. The chassis was never the problem. It's a light, compact, sharp-looking hatch with real handling potential baked in, just waiting for someone to unlock it. That's exactly what these BC Racing BR coilovers do.

Fits The ZF1 And ZF2 CR-Z

This kit is made for the 2011-2016 CR-Z across the ZF1 and ZF2 chassis. It bolts in and gives you full control over how the car sits and how it drives, no matter which year or trim you've got. One kit, the whole run covered.

Giving The CR-Z The Handling It Always Deserved

From the factory, the CR-Z rides taller and softer than its sporty shape suggests, tuned for comfort and efficiency rather than corners. That's the disconnect. The car looks like it should attack a back road, then leans and floats when you actually try. The BR Series closes that gap. You get 30 levels of damping adjustment, so you keep it easy for the commute and firm it up when the road gets fun. The springs come set at 4kgf/mm up front and 5kgf/mm in the rear, a balance that flattens the body roll and sharpens turn-in without beating you up. Ride height adjusts at the base of the coilover, so you drop the car, lose the awkward wheel gap, and keep full shock travel while you do it. Suddenly the CR-Z drives the way its looks always promised, planted, eager, and genuinely fun to throw around. You can't tune the drivetrain into a powerhouse, but you can absolutely make this the sharp-handling little hatch it was meant to be.

About The Top Mounts

This kit uses RN type mounts, so here's the straight talk. There's no front top mount in this kit. You reuse your factory bushings up front, and the rear runs a rubber or reuse-OEM mount. It's a clean, quiet setup that bolts in without drama and keeps road noise out of the cabin, which suits a daily-driven hatch perfectly. Just know going in that front camber stays set by your stock hardware, so if you drop it low and want to dial in more camber later, plan on adding alignment parts down the road.

Do The Job Right

To get the handling payoff, set it up properly. Take your time on the install, set the ride height even side to side, and don't slam it lower than the look and function actually call for, since going too low starts working against the geometry you're trying to sharpen. Get a real alignment when you're done. A CR-Z dropped level and aligned right feels tight and responsive and looks the part. One dumped crooked just eats tires and rides rough. Spend the extra hour and the car rewards you every time you turn the wheel.

BC Racing has been building coilovers since the early 2000s, and the BR Series is the kit that made their name. It's affordable, it's proven on everything from daily drivers to track cars, and it's exactly the kind of upgrade that takes an underrated car like the CR-Z and finally lets the good chassis underneath show what it can do.

Who This Is For

This one's for the owner who always saw what the CR-Z could be. You like the looks, you like the idea of a modern lightweight two-door, and you're done with it driving softer than it should. This kit hands you the stance and the handling the car was crying out for from day one. Bolt them on, get it dialed, and go enjoy the corner-carver Honda hinted at but never quite built.
