BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 2009-2014 Acura TL (UA8 / UA9, FWD & SH-AWD)
This was the last of the TLs. After the 2014 model year Acura retired the name and rolled everything into the TLX, which makes the 2009-2014 car the send-off for a sedan that ran for decades. It's also the one people can't stop talking about, love the bold styling or hate it, nobody's neutral. What everybody agrees on is that it's a big, comfortable, seriously underrated sedan that Acura sprung soft and set up tall. There's a good chassis buried under that plushness, and these BC Racing BR coilovers are how you dig it out and give the car the stance it always deserved.
Fits However Yours Is Built
This kit covers the whole 2009-2014 TL run across the UA8 and UA9 chassis. Front-wheel-drive or SH-AWD, automatic or the sought-after 6-speed manual, it bolts up the same and gets the car sitting right. If you're one of the lucky few with a manual SH-AWD, this is exactly the kind of build that deserves a proper suspension setup.
What The BR Series Does For Your TL
Acura tuned this car for showroom comfort, which is why the body leans and the nose dives the moment you push it. That soft ride hides how capable the car actually is. The BR Series changes that. You get 30 clicks of damping, so you can leave it easy on the daily commute and firm it up when the road gets good. Ride height comes off the base of the coilover instead of winding the spring down, so even sitting low the shock keeps full travel and the TL still rides like the near-luxury sedan you bought.
The springs run 10kgf/mm up front and 6kgf/mm out back, and that heavy front rate is deliberate. This is a big, nose-heavy sedan, and it's even heavier up front on the SH-AWD cars with the front differential and driveline hardware. The firmer front holds all that weight flat through a corner instead of letting it heave and push wide. Once it's dialed in, the whole car settles down and finally turns in like it means it.
About The Top Mounts
This kit uses RS type mounts, meaning rubber up front and rubber or reuse-OEM in the rear. On a refined sedan like the TL, that's the right pick. Rubber keeps the road noise and harshness out of the cabin, so the car stays quiet and comfortable the way Acura intended rather than turning into a stripped-out track toy. There's no camber plate built in, so front camber stays where your factory geometry sets it. Drop it aggressively and want to correct camber later, and you'll add alignment parts down the road. For most street setups, RS is exactly where you want to be.
Do The Job Right
These TLs have some years on them now, so look over the front end before you start. Worn ball joints, tired bushings, and seized hardware are common at this age, and fresh coilovers won't do much bolted to a worn-out chassis. Once you're squared away, set the height even across all four corners and get a real alignment when you're finished, and be a little more careful about how low you go on the SH-AWD cars, since dropping an all-wheel-drive sedan too far starts working against its driveline angles. A TL that sits level and aligned right looks sharp and drives tight. One slammed crooked just eats tires and rides rough.
BC Racing has been building coilovers since the early 2000s and the BR Series is the kit that made their name. It's affordable, it's proven on everything from daily drivers to track cars, and it brings real stance and ride control to a big sedan most suspension companies don't bother supporting.
Who This Is For
This is for the owner who gets what the last TL really is: a comfortable, quick, genuinely distinctive sedan that responds beautifully to good suspension. Maybe you daily a FWD car and just can't stand the wheel gap anymore, maybe you hunted down a manual SH-AWD and want it handling like it should. Either way, these get your TL sitting right and driving sharper than Acura was willing to let it. Bolt them on, get it aligned, and go enjoy the send-off model.
