BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 2009-2013 Honda Fit (GE)
The second-gen Fit is one of the best-kept secrets in budget motorsport. It's light, it's cheap to buy, it's tough to kill, and it'll happily get tossed around a course all weekend, which is exactly why so many people pick one as their first autocross car or track-day toy without spending Civic or Miata money to get in the door. The one thing really holding a stock GE Fit back is the suspension it left the factory with, soft, tall, and tuned for hauling groceries, not for the kind of driving you've got planned. BC Racing's BR Series is how you sort that out without wrecking your build budget. It's the most affordable coilover BC makes and the one most Fit owners grab first, because it gets you a real drop and real adjustability without the sticker shock of the higher-end kits.
Here's What Stock Suspension Is Holding Back
A stock Fit leans hard in corners, dives when you brake, and rides up high enough that it looks like it's on stilts next to the rest of your build. None of that bugs you in traffic, but the moment you start pushing, on an autocross course, a track day, or a good back road, you'll feel the body flopping around more than you'd like. And since the factory height isn't adjustable, you're stuck with that big fender gap whether you like it or not. Coilovers fix both at once. You get damping you can firm up for the track and soften for the drive home, plus a ride height you set yourself instead of the tall one Honda picked for a commuter.
Spring Rates Tuned For A Light Car
This is where BC's testing pays off. The Fit's a featherweight, so BC didn't bolt on whatever spring was lying around, they matched the rates to how light and balanced this chassis already is. Slap super-stiff springs on a car this small and you just turn it into a go-kart with a bad attitude that beats you up on the way home, and that's not what you want from a car you drive to the track and back. Underneath, it's a 53mm mono-tube shock running a linear piston and damping curve, so the response stays predictable whether you're cruising or really leaning on it. Pillowball mounts come standard to sharpen up your steering, and BC's concave lower locking ring keeps your ride height from creeping once you've dialed it in.
30 Clicks To Dial It In
You get 30 clicks of compression and rebound off a single knob, so going from a comfy street setting to something firmer for a track day takes a couple of minutes, not a teardown in the garage. Ride height adjusts on its own separate thread, independent of the spring, so dropping the car doesn't steal your shock travel. The standard setup sits about an inch below stock at its tallest and 2.5 to 3 inches below at its lowest, which is plenty of drop for most builds without going full slammed. And if you catch the bug later and want to chase something more aggressive, custom spring rates, Swift springs, and matched valving are all on the table, so this kit grows with your build instead of getting tossed for the next one.
