BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 2007-2012 Acura RDX (TB1, FWD & SH-AWD)
Honda people love to argue about K-series engines, and somehow the weirdest one barely comes up. The first-gen RDX got the K23A1, the first turbocharged K-series Honda ever put in a production car, and they buried it in a small family crossover. That's the joke and that's the appeal. Underneath the grocery-run bodywork is a boosted K, and once you start waking it up, the RDX turns into something nobody sees coming: a turbo family hauler making all the right noises. The one thing that gives the game away is the ride height, because stock it sits tall and soft and looks like exactly what your neighbor drives. These BC Racing BR coilovers fix the stance so the outside finally matches what's under the hood.
One Kit For The FWD And SH-AWD Cars
This covers the whole 2007-2012 RDX run on the TB1 chassis, front-drive and SH-AWD alike. You don't need to figure out which drivetrain kit to order or worry that you've got the wrong one coming. Whatever's in your driveway, this is the set.
Dropping It Without Ruining It
Stock, the RDX rides high and springy because that's what a family crossover is supposed to do. Lower it and the whole thing reads differently, tighter proportions, no gap swallowing your tires, and a stance that hints at the boost. The BR Series gets you there while keeping the vehicle usable. You've got 30 clicks of damping on tap, so you can leave it relaxed hauling kids and firm it up when you're on it. Height comes off the base of the coilover rather than winding the spring down, which means the shock keeps its full stroke and the RDX still soaks up bumps instead of slamming through them.
Why The Rear Springs Are So Much Stiffer
Look at the rates and you'll notice something unusual: 6kgf/mm up front and 12kgf/mm in the rear. That's a big split, and it's there on purpose. This is a tall vehicle that carries its passengers, cargo, and hatch weight well behind the rear axle line, and on the SH-AWD cars there's driveline hardware back there too. A soft rear would squat, wallow, and undo everything you gained by lowering it. The heavy rear rate keeps the back end planted and level so the RDX sits and drives like you meant to do this, not like it's loaded down.
About The Top Mounts
You're getting RS type mounts, rubber up front and rubber or reuse-OEM in the rear. That's the right pick for something you're still using as a family vehicle. Rubber keeps the noise and the harshness out of the cabin, so nobody riding with you complains about the build. There's no camber plate in the kit, so front camber sits wherever your geometry puts it. Go low enough that it needs correcting and you'll be adding alignment parts to bring it back.
Don't Overdo The Drop
Here's the advice worth taking on this one. Lowering a crossover isn't the same as lowering a Civic, and the RDX has less of a playbook to copy since barely anyone builds them. Be deliberate about how far down you go, especially on an SH-AWD car, because a tall vehicle pushed too low starts working against its own driveline angles and its ride. Set the height even across all four corners, keep it sensible, and put it on a rack afterward. An RDX that's dropped clean and level looks intentional and mean. One that's slammed just looks broken and drives worse than stock did.
BC Racing has been at this since the early 2000s, and they're one of the few outfits that even bothers building a kit for a first-gen RDX. That says something about who they build for. The BR Series is the setup that made their name, affordable and proven, and it brings real stance and ride control to a vehicle almost nobody else supports.
Who This Is For
This is for the person who bought an RDX and then found out what's actually under the hood. You want the turbo noises, you want people to do a double-take when they realize what it is, and you're tired of it sitting up like a rental. Drop it, get it aligned, and go enjoy the weirdest, most underrated turbo K-series Honda ever built.
