BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 2006-2011 Honda Civic & Acura CSX (8th Gen)

Want your 8th gen Civic to sit right and actually handle instead of leaning through every corner on tired factory struts? This BC Racing BR Series kit is where most people start, and it earns it. You get real height adjustment, 30 clicks of damping, and front pillowball camber plates, all at the most affordable entry point into legit coilovers. Better yet, it comes two ways, Standard or Extreme Low, so you can build the stance you're actually after. Pick your version and dial the car in exactly how you want it.

Why These Beat A Set Of Lowering Springs

Here's what separates real coilovers from cheaping out, and it's the thing that bites people who go the spring route. On the BR Series, ride height adjusts independently of spring compression. So you lower the car by moving the lower mount, not by crushing the spring down, which means you keep your suspension travel and the damper keeps working like it should. That's why a properly set up coilover car can sit low and still ride well, while a slammed spring car beats you to death over every seam. On top of that you get 30 clicks of compression and rebound, adjusted together with one knob, so you can soften it for your commute and firm it up when you want to push.

Standard Or Extreme Low: Pick Your Drop

This is the big decision, so let's make it easy. Both versions are the same quality BR system, the difference is how low they put you:

  • Standard. Sits about an inch below stock at the highest setting, and roughly 2.5 to 3 inches below stock all the way down. This is your pick for a daily-driven Si that you still want to drive over speed bumps and steep driveways without wincing.
  • Extreme Low. Starts around 2 inches below stock at its highest setting, and goes to about 4 inches below stock at the lowest. This is for the aggressive stance crowd, if the Standard kit's lowest setting isn't low enough for what you've got in mind, this is your kit. The Extreme comes with 6 kg/mm front and 7 kg/mm rear springs.

Simple version: daily driver that still needs to clear real-world roads, go Standard. Chasing an aggressive drop, go Extreme Low.

Front Camber Plates Come Standard

Here's a nice one. This kit uses Type RA pillowball camber top plates up front, and that's two wins in one. First, you get adjustable camber built right in, so when you drop the car and the alignment goes where 8th gen Civics always go, you can actually dial the camber back in instead of fighting it with extra parts. Anyone who's lowered one of these and then chewed the inside edges off a set of tires knows exactly why that matters. Second, the pillowball mount is a solid connection instead of squishy rubber, so your steering feel gets sharper and more precise, the car responds right now instead of a beat later. Honest trade: a pillowball top mount does transmit more road noise into the cabin than a rubber one, that's just what comes with the precision. Most people building an Si think it's a fair deal.

Spring Rates That Aren't Punishing

BC tests every application and picks rates that balance comfort and performance, instead of throwing the stiffest springs they've got at every car and leaving you oversprung and miserable, which is exactly what a lot of brands do. And if you've got a specific setup in mind, custom spring rates and Swift springs are available, along with custom valving paired to match whatever rates you choose.

Built Right, And Rebuildable

These are real coilovers. You get a mono-tube shock design with a linear piston and damping curve, so damping stays predictable through the whole stroke instead of getting weird at the extremes. They're backed by a 2-year warranty against manufacturer defect, and they're fully rebuildable, so years from now when they're finally tired, you send them in for a refresh instead of buying a whole new set. That's the difference between an investment and a throwaway part.
