ATI Super Damper - Honda D-Series (D15/D16/D17)
The crank pulley on your D-series is also its harmonic damper, it absorbs the torsional vibration the crankshaft produces, and on a built or high-revving D16 that job matters more than people realize. The ATI Super Damper replaces the factory pulley with a far more capable unit: a tunable elastomer design that cancels crankshaft harmonics across the whole rev range, protecting the crank and bearings and recovering the power those vibrations quietly cost you. It's SFI 18.1 certified for competition, rebuildable, and rated to 750 hp. One thing to know up front, it's a press-fit, not a slide-on, so plan the install accordingly.
What a Harmonic Damper Does
Worth understanding, because it's doing more than driving your belts.
A crankshaft doesn't spin perfectly smoothly, every combustion event twists it and it springs back, setting up torsional vibration along its length. Left unchecked, that vibration is destructive: it fatigues the crank, wears the bearings, causes timing problems, and at high RPM can make the factory pulley's bonded rubber fail, throwing your belts and risking the front of the engine. It also saps power, those harmonics are a parasitic loss.
The ATI damper absorbs that vibration with a tunable elastomer design. It's actually two dampers in one, a 4" inner damper and a larger outer damper in bolted shells, which together cancel the harmonics across the entire rev range rather than at a single frequency. It's far more effective and durable than the factory bonded-rubber pulley, and it won't come apart at high RPM the way a degraded stock pulley can. The result is a protected crank, longer bearing life, and the power those vibrations were costing you back.
Built for Competition, Rebuildable
The construction and certification are serious.
It's an aluminum shell on a steel hub, and it exceeds SFI 18.1 safety certification, which is required for NHRA and IHRA competition. If you race in a sanctioned class that mandates an SFI damper, this passes tech. It's rated to a maximum of 750 hp, so there's capacity well beyond most D-series builds.
And it's fully rebuildable and field-tunable, ATI offers service kits and replacement elastomers, so it's a buy-once part you maintain and re-tune rather than replace, unlike the sealed factory pulley that you throw away when it degrades.
Retains the Serpentine Belt, 10% Underdrive
The damper keeps your accessory drive working.
It features a 5.5" 4-rib serpentine belt drive behind the outer shell, so it uses your factory serpentine belt setup, your accessories keep running as they should. The pulley is 10% underdriven, which slows the accessories slightly to reduce parasitic drag and free up a touch more power, a common, beneficial setup on a performance build. It includes 360° laser-etched timing marks for easier ignition and cam timing.
Read This: It's a Press-Fit Install
Important, because this doesn't install like a factory pulley.
Unlike the OEM crank pulley that slides onto the crank snout, the ATI damper is a 1-thousandth press fit, it has to be pressed onto the crank, which requires a damper install kit. Don't plan to tap it on or slide it by hand; you need the proper tool to install it correctly without damaging the damper or the crank.
So budget for a damper install kit if you don't have one, and know going in that this is a more involved install than swapping a stock pulley. It's a straightforward job with the right tool, but the wrong approach can damage parts, so do it properly.

2001-2005 Honda Civic DX/EX/LX
1993-1997 Honda Del Sol S/Si
D15, D16, and D17 engines. Part number 918456. Requires a damper install kit (press-fit).
Note: fits the 1992-1995 Civic Si (D16Z6). Does not fit the 1999-2000 Civic Si (EM1), which came with the B16A2 B-series engine, this damper is D-series only.
If you're building a D-series and want to protect the crank and bearings with a proper harmonic damper instead of trusting the aging factory pulley, this is the one, SFI-certified, rebuildable, 750 hp rated, and it keeps your serpentine accessories running with a mild underdrive. Just know it's a press-fit, so have a damper install kit on hand, press it on properly, and spin the D-series to redline with the crank protected.
