CFD-Developed, Not Just Styled
This is what separates these from cosmetic carbon mirror covers.
APR developed the GT2 AeroMirrors using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, simulating airflow around the mirror shapes to visualize drag, flow separation, and vortex shedding. That let them iterate the design digitally and optimize it for aero rather than guessing, and it demonstrates the mirrors actually reduce drag as intended rather than just looking like they should.
They're also a patented design (US D1,110,912 S), which speaks to the engineering being genuinely original rather than a copy of someone else's shape. This is a developed aero component that happens to be a mirror, not a mirror with a carbon shell.
Where The Drag Reduction Comes From
Several design elements work together, and it's worth understanding them.
Airfoil stalk. The stalk uses an airfoil profile inspired by APR's adjustable wings, thin and shaped to reduce separation and vortex shedding rather than the blunt factory arm that just creates turbulence. The smooth transition between the stalk and the mirror head cuts interference drag where the two meet.
Compact, sharp-edged housing. The housing is shaped to minimize frontal area while keeping the visibility you need, and its sharper edges further reduce turbulence. Less cross-sectional area in the airflow means less drag.
Controlled vortices. Anything moving through air leaves a wake, you can't eliminate it. Instead of the messy, turbulent wake a typical mirror throws off, these intentionally create controlled vortices that guide air smoothly along the side of the car. That cleaner wake reduces turbulence around the side windows and A-pillar, which improves the airflow everything downstream of the mirror has to work with.

Less drag means the car holds higher speeds with less power, and a higher straight-line top speed, which matters where fractions of a second count.
