The L15B7 responds to airflow more than any other Civic engine, and the factory paper filter in the 1.5T airbox is the first restriction. aFe's 30-10267 is the oiled Pro 5R panel for the 2016-2021 Civic 1.5T, the 2017-2020 Si, and the 2017-2022 CR-V 1.5T: drop-in, washable, and the filter to run under a tune before you spend on an intake.

What It Is and Why It Works

This is aFe's Pro 5R media: five layers of progressively finer cotton gauze, oiled, in aFe's blue. It's the higher-flow choice and the one that holds the most dirt between cleanings, at the cost of needing filter oil when you service it. aFe cuts the filter to the factory airbox dimensions with a full 360-degree polyurethane frame and a progressive bump seal that conforms to the airbox lip without a gasket, so it drops in where the paper filter was and seals the same way. The pleats are rounded and evenly spaced, which gives more usable media area than the factory panel for less restriction and more dirt capacity between cleanings. It's washable and reusable; clean it with aFe's Power Cleaner, no oil and it goes back in.

aFe lists the 2016-2021 Civic 1.5T, 2017-2020 Civic Si, and 2017-2022 CR-V 1.5T. The 2.0L Civic and the Type R use different filters; the 2022 and up Civic 1.5T has a different airbox.

What to Know Before You Buy

Every 1.5T Civic tune wants more air, and a panel filter is the cheapest place to get it without an intake that changes the intake air temp. Oiled media on a MAF car means light oil, applied per aFe's instructions, and a dry-time before reinstall; over-oiling the L15B7's sensor gives you a lean code and a limp. The Pro Dry S version (31-10267) is the same filter with dry media if you'd rather skip the oil. aFe lists this filter as CARB compliant. Clean every 20,000 to 30,000 miles on the street, sooner if the car sees dirt.
