Description
AEM X-Series Wideband UEGO AFR Gauge - OBDII
A wideband is the gauge you actually tune off of. The narrowband sensor your car came with only knows "rich" or "lean" right around stoich, which is useless the moment you start tuning for power. The AEM X-Series wideband reads your real air/fuel ratio across the whole range, and this is the OBDII version, which means instead of running its own separate sensor network, it puts your AFR right onto the factory CAN-bus stream your ECU is already sending out the OBDII port.
That's the whole point of this version. If you're tuning on a piggyback module or open-source software, your AFR shows up in the same data stream as everything else the ECU reports, so you're logging and tuning off one clean source. It plays with HPTuners, EFILive, DashDaq, and the rest.
The Sensor and Calibration
It comes with AEM's OBDII connector and a Bosch 4.9LSU wideband sensor, the current-generation sensor and the one you want. You can free-air calibrate it or run the factory resistor calibration, whichever fits how you work. If you want to log the AFR somewhere else too, you can wire in a 0-5V analog output or an RS232 serial output.
How It's Different From the 30-0300
This is the main thing to get right before you buy. The 30-0300 X-Series gauge sends its data over AEMnet. This one drops AEMnet and uses OBDII pass-through instead, pulling AFR through the factory CAN-bus. The default OBDII CAN address works on most cars right out of the box, and if yours needs a different one, you can change the address right from the buttons on the gauge face. If your setup is built around OBDII and a piggyback or open-source tune, this is the one you want. If you're on an AEMnet setup, you want the 30-0300.
