PRODUCT DETAILS

AEM DryFlow Engine Air Filter Cleaner (1-1000)

This is the AEM air filter cleaner spray for AEM DryFlow engine air filters. If you already run a DryFlow panel such as AEM-28-50044 in a Honda or Acura factory airbox, this is the bottle that services that filter. It is not a vehicle-specific filter. It is not filter oil.

In the box is one 32 fl oz (946 ml) trigger-spray bottle of AEM Synthetic Air Filter Cleaner. You spray it on the DryFlow media, let it soak, and rinse with water.

What It Is and Why It Works

DryFlow is dry media. AEM builds those engine filters from oil-free synthetic, and this cleaner is mixed for that media only. You spray it, wait, and rinse. You do not oil a DryFlow filter afterward. K&N oiled cotton is a different job. That media uses K&N Recharger kit 99-5000, a 12 ounce Power Kleen bottle plus a 6.5 ounce aerosol oil, verified on knfilters.com. Do not put that oil on a DryFlow panel, and do not use this spray as a stand-in for an oiled-cotton kit.

AEM 1-1000 loosens and dissolves dirt on DryFlow and other synthetic filters so they can be rinsed clean with water, per AEM. It is not a paper OEM filter, and it will not restore a disposable Honda panel. It is not AEM 1-4000. That part is a DryFlow pre-filter wrap, not a chemical. One bottle in the box. No filter, no oil, no wrap. The label reads DANGER: CORROSIVE, so keep it off skin and out of eyes while you work.

This is a service chemical, not a vehicle-specific engine filter. Use it on AEM DryFlow engine air filters, including Honda and Acura DryFlow panels that sit in a factory airbox, and on other AEM synthetic DryFlow filters. Confirm the filter is DryFlow (oil-free synthetic) before you spray. AEM also says DryFlow pre-filter wraps can be cleaned with this synthetic cleaner. The wrap is still a separate part. Match the companion filter by its own SKU. AEM-28-50044 is the Civic 1.5T factory-airbox DryFlow panel. Do not order this bottle by Civic year.

What to Know Before You Buy

Pull the filter. Tap off loose dirt. Spray the cleaner on both sides, most of it on the dirty side, and let it soak 10 minutes. Do not let it dry on the media. Rinse from the clean side out with cool or warm water, not hot, until the water runs clear. Repeat the spray and rinse if it is still dirty. That is AEM's published process.

Shake off the extra water and let the filter dry fully, or use compressed air carefully, before it goes back in the airbox. AEM says you can reinstall once it is dry or just slightly damp. Never oil a DryFlow filter. Oil on that media is how you load a MAF and ruin the point of buying dry media in the first place.

This bottle does not clean a paper Honda OEM panel. Paper is disposable. It also does not service oiled cotton. If the filter in your hand is red or oily, you need the K&N kit, not 1-1000. Keep 1-1000 with the DryFlow filters it belongs to, including AEM-28-50044 and AEM-28-20342. Wear gloves. The bottle is marked corrosive.

Universal service chemical for AEM DryFlow engine air filters, including Honda and Acura DryFlow panels. Not a vehicle-specific drop-in filter. Do not order by Civic year. Companion panel example: AEM-28-50044 (Civic 1.5T factory airbox).

Remove the DryFlow filter and tap off loose dirt. Spray AEM 1-1000 on both sides, mostly on the dirty side, and soak 10 minutes. Do not let the cleaner dry on the media. Rinse from the clean side out with cool or warm water until clear. Dry fully or just slightly damp before reinstall. Do not oil.
