This component is a return style, manifold referenced fuel pressure regulator intended to control fuel rail pressure by bypassing excess fuel back to the tank. In a typical EFI fuel system, the regulator establishes a stable base fuel pressure at the rail and then changes fuel pressure in step with intake manifold pressure so injector differential pressure remains consistent as manifold pressure changes.

This AEM regulator is designed to replace the factory style rail mounted regulator on applicable Honda and Acura fuel rail configurations and is intended for setups where adjustable base pressure and a serviceable, high flow regulator body are required. AEM specifies a boost referenced rising rate of 1 to 1, meaning fuel pressure increases one psi for each one psi of positive manifold pressure.

A key functional design element is AEM interchangeable discharge port system. AEM supplies a single large discharge orifice with the regulator, with additional orifice sizes available separately. The discharge orifice size affects bypass flow capacity and the regulator ability to control pressure as pump output, injector demand, and transient conditions change.
