Honda C30A/C32B Valve Cover Gasket - Genuine OEM (12341-PR7-A01)
Seeing oil seep out from under your NSX's valve cover, or catching that faint burning smell when the engine's hot? That's almost always the valve cover gasket, and after 20 or 30 years, the original one on your car is long past its prime. This is the genuine Honda gasket, part 12341-PR7-A01, the same one that seals the valve cover to the head on the C30A and C32B V6. The rubber dries out, shrinks, and loses its squeeze over the decades, and once it does, oil starts weeping out the top of the engine. On a car like this, you don't let that ride. A fresh gasket keeps your engine bay clean and your oil where it's supposed to be.
Why You Don't Let A Valve Cover Leak Slide
A weeping valve cover gasket isn't just an oily mess, though it's definitely that too. As the gasket hardens, oil works its way out the top of the head, runs down the sides of the engine, and if it drips onto anything hot, you get that burning oil smell and a little smoke that'll have you worried about something worse than it is. On the NSX specifically, this is a 30-year-old engine in a car people keep show-clean, so a steady weep down the cam covers is the kind of thing that nags at you every time you pop the engine cover. It's also the gasket that lets oil sneak toward your spark plug tubes if the tube seals are tired too. Reseal it and the whole top end stays dry and tidy the way it should.
Just The Gasket, Or The Whole Set?
Worth knowing before you buy. This is the valve cover gasket by itself, which is exactly what you want if that's the only thing that's leaking and your spark plug tube seals are still dry. But Honda also sells the complete kit, part 12030-PR7-010, which packs this same gasket plus the spark plug tube seals and the valve cover hardware grommet gaskets. If you're pulling the cover anyway and you've got oil down in your plug wells, or you just want to reseal everything up top while you're in there, the full kit is the smarter buy so you're not back in a year for the seals you skipped. If you only need the gasket, this is it.
Genuine Honda, On A Car That Deserves It
This is the real Honda gasket, molded to the exact shape and material the C-series heads were built around, so it seats in the groove right and seals without weeping. On an NSX, OEM is just the standard, you didn't keep a car like this all these years to put a questionable gasket on it. It's the same part that came from the factory, so it fits clean and seals the way it's meant to.
