Action Clutch Stage 3 Clutch Kit - 2003 Acura CL Type-S (J32A2)
When a Kevlar Stage 2 isn't enough for your 2003 CL Type-S, the Action Clutch Stage 3 (1MS) kit is the next step. It's built to take abuse: a heavy-duty single-diaphragm pressure plate, reinforced drive straps, and a sprung MIBA ceramic disc, available in 4-puck or 6-puck. Rated for 170% more holding capacity than the factory clutch, it's the one you run when you're putting down real power on this J32A2 and need the grip to match, with little compromise on reliability.
Sprung MIBA Ceramic Disc
The heart of this kit is a sprung MIBA ceramic puck disc. Ceramic grabs harder and engages quicker than an organic or Kevlar disc, which is what gives the Stage 3 its holding capacity, and the sprung hub still soaks up some driveline shock to keep it livable. Be honest with yourself about the trade: a puck-style ceramic disc engages more abruptly and will introduce some clutch chatter, especially at low speed. That chatter minimizes after a proper break-in, but this is a more aggressive clutch than the Stage 1 or Stage 2 and it drives like one.
4-Puck Or 6-Puck
You can run this disc as a 4-puck or a 6-puck. The 4-puck is a bit more forgiving on engagement and the easier of the two to modulate, while the 6-puck adds more surface for holding capacity and a slightly firmer grab. Pick based on how aggressive your setup is and how much low-speed smoothness you're willing to give up, since both are a step up in bite from the Kevlar discs.
Know The Intended Use
This kit is rated for heavy-duty street use and occasional drag, road, or drift racing, the step up from the Stage 2's street-and-road-course rating. It can take the shock-loading those uses put on a clutch, so if you're launching hard, doing the occasional drift or track event on top of daily driving, the Stage 3 is built for it.
Works With Your OEM Dual Mass Flywheel
This kit is compatible with the factory OEM dual mass flywheel on the CL Type-S, so no flywheel replacement is required unless yours is already worn. You reuse the factory flywheel and just step up the clutch, which keeps the job and the cost down. If your dual mass flywheel is worn or failing, handle it while you're in there, but a healthy one carries right over.
Action Clutch's Enclosed Spring Retainer
One engineering detail worth knowing: Action Clutch uses patented fully enclosed spring retainers on the disc. On conventional discs, the torsional springs inside the hub can dislodge under stress and fly into your transmission or engine internals. Action Clutch's enclosed design prevents that failure mode entirely. Their engineering team carries over 60 years of combined experience, and every kit is inspected and certified before it ships.
Break-In
A proper break-in matters even more on a ceramic disc. Easy driving for the first several hundred miles lets the friction surfaces seat and heat cycle evenly, which is what settles the engagement and reduces the initial chatter. Avoid riding the clutch, and don't lean on it hard until it's broken in, since repeated slipping works against building its holding capacity.

This limited one (1) year warranty offered by ACTION CLUTCH covers defects in material or workmanship in new ACTION CLUTCH products. This warranty extends to the original purchaser only and is nontransferable. Only consumers purchasing ACTION CLUTCH products from authorized ACTION CLUTCH retailers or resellers or through the ACTION CLUTCH website may obtain coverage under our limited warranties.
ACTION CLUTCH warrants this product against defects in material or workmanship as follows:
ACTION CLUTCH will replace at no charge for parts only that proves defective because of improper workmanship. If ACTION CLUTCH is unable to provide a replacement and repair is not practical or cannot be made in a timely fashion, ACTION CLUTCH may elect to refund the purchase price in exchange for the return of the product.
Action Clutch offers a 1 (one) year warranty from the original date of purchase. We also offer a 30-day return policy with a 20% restocking fee.
Our warranty does not cover any problem that is caused by:
(1) Conditions, malfunctions or damage not resulting from defects in material or workmanship. (2) Conditions, malfunctions or damage resulting from (1) normal wear and tear, improper installation, improper maintenance, misuse, abuse, negligence, accident or alteration. (3) Accessories, connected materials and products, or related products not manufactured by ACTION CLUTCH. (4) Damaged input Shaft causing HUB to strip (5) Failure to resurface the flywheel will invalidate Warranty.
Please Note: ACTION CLUTCH will not be liable for labor charges and other intangible or consequent losses that might be claimed as a result of the failure of any part, nor shall they be liable for damages or injury to any persons or property resulting from the misuses or improper installation of any part subject to this warranty.
Our limited warranties are void if a product is returned with removed, damaged or tampered labels or any alterations (including removal of any component or external cover).
ACTION CLUTCH will not provide any warranty coverage unless claims are made in compliance with all terms of the controlling warranty statement included with your product and you follow proper return procedure. To request warranty service, you will need to provide:
- The sales receipt or other evidence of the date and place of purchase.
- A description of the problem.

When warranty service is completed, any repaired or replacement product or part will be returned to you postage prepaid.
