The stock K20C1 engine cover is textured black plastic. It does its job, but if you've spent real money on a Type R or Integra Type S, the engine bay deserves better than injection-molded plastic sitting on top of a turbocharged K20C1. This HKS cover is a full carbon replacement, not a stick-on overlay, made from dry carbon with red Kevlar woven into the weave, and grain-matched to the factory intake cover so the bay looks unified. What makes this look right rather than generic.

HKS uses a dry carbon layup with red Aramid (Kevlar) fibers woven into the twill pattern, so the result is a black-and-red carbon weave that reads as Type R without being garish. The center of the cover is sculpted to suggest the inline-four underneath, and the red threads tie into the Type R's red-accented design language. It's styled for these cars specifically, not a generic cover that happens to bolt on.

The weave direction and grain are intentionally matched to Honda's OEM intake cover, so running the stock intake (or an HKS carbon intake box), the engine bay looks cohesive rather than mismatched. That grain-matching is the detail that separates a purpose-designed piece from a generic one.

Honest About The Weight

HKS lists this as roughly 39% lighter than the factory cover, and that's true, but let's be straight: you're not saving meaningful weight by swapping an engine cover. The OEM plastic piece weighs almost nothing to begin with. This is a dress-up part, buy it because it looks right on your K20C1, not because you're chasing grams. It happens to be lighter; that's not the reason to fit it.

Dry Carbon, Handle It With Care

Likely fits, not yet confirmed: the 2018-2022 Accord 2.0T and 2019-2025 Acura RDX. Those cars use the same K20C-family engine, and like the genuine Honda Type R engine cover (which fits them with four retaining bolts), this cover should install the same way, but HKS hasn't confirmed it, so verify before ordering if you're on an Accord or RDX.

Does not fit: non-Type R Civics or other K20 variants outside the K20C family.
