Hybrid Racing Thermal Intake Manifold Gasket - K-Series

Your intake manifold bolts directly to a cylinder head that runs hot. The factory gasket is thin stamped steel, which seals well and conducts heat straight through. So the manifold soaks up head heat, and the air passing through it picks that heat up on the way to your cylinders. This gasket replaces that steel with a thermal-resistant polymer that acts as an actual insulating barrier between the two.

Is A Thermal Gasket Actually Worth It?

Fair question, and it gets asked a lot, so here's the honest answer.

This is not a horsepower part in the way an intake or a header is. You will not see a big number on a dyno pull from a cold engine, because on a cold engine there's no heat soak to prevent.

Where it does work is consistency. Heat soak builds over time, in traffic, between dyno pulls, on the third lap of a session. That's when your manifold has absorbed enough head heat to start warming the charge and your power quietly tapers off. Insulating the manifold from the head slows that down, so the car holds its power instead of fading as the day goes on.

So the honest framing is that this protects power you already have rather than adding power you don't. On a car that sits in traffic, sees track days, or lives somewhere hot, that's genuinely useful. On a car that only gets driven cold on a Sunday morning, it's less so.

Why The Factory Gasket Doesn't Do This

Nothing wrong with the OEM gasket at its job. It's thin stamped steel and it seals reliably, which is all Honda asked of it.

But steel is a conductor. It transfers heat from the head to the manifold efficiently, which is exactly what you don't want. Honda wasn't optimizing for intake air temperature there, and on a stock car it barely matters.

Once you're asking more of the engine, whether that's sustained high rpm, boost, or just extended hard driving, it starts to matter more. The polymer in this gasket is a poor conductor, which is the entire point. It slows heat migration into the manifold rather than passing it along.

Where It Matters Most

Three situations where the difference is real.

Track days. Heat soak between sessions is why lap times drift over the day. Anything keeping the manifold cooler helps.

Forced induction. A turbo or supercharged K-series is already fighting intake temps everywhere else in the system. Not adding head heat to the charge in the last few inches before the port is worth having.

Hot climates and traffic. Stop-and-go driving is where an engine bay heat soaks worst, and it's where a stock manifold gets hottest.

Direct Replacement

It installs exactly where the factory gasket does, with no modification. If you've got the manifold off for any other reason, a swap, a port job, injectors, a new intake manifold, this is the moment to fit one, since the labor is already spent.
