Bosch LSU 4.9 Wideband O2 Sensor Kit - Haltech CAN (HT-159976)

If you tune, this is the part that turns guessing into knowing. This wideband O2 sensor kit pairs a genuine Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor with Haltech's CAN controller to add a dedicated, trustworthy lambda input to your ECU, so you get real AFR data you can rely on at idle, at cruise, and at wide-open throttle. You weld in the bung, thread in the Bosch sensor, wire the controller to your Haltech CAN bus, and your logs start telling you the truth instead of the rough approximation a factory sensor gives you. For anyone dialing in a tune, that's the whole ballgame.

Why A Wideband O2 Sensor Beats Your Factory Narrowband

Here's the problem with leaning on a stock sensor for tuning. Most factory O2 sensors are narrowband, which means they only read accurately right around lambda 1 (stoich). Everywhere else, rich under boost or lean at cruise, they're basically just telling you "richer than 1" or "leaner than 1" without the precision you actually need.

This kit uses a proper Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband sensor, the industry-standard wideband sensor, paired with Haltech's CAN controller, so your ECU sees true wide-range lambda across the whole map. The payoff in practice is cleaner logs, less signal noise, and a tune you can trust instead of one you're second-guessing. If you're serious about AFR accuracy, a wideband isn't optional, and the LSU 4.9 is the sensor to build around.

CAN Connection, Not Noisy Analog

The controller runs CAN at 1 Mbit per second and plugs straight into a Haltech ECU's CAN system, so it's a clean digital connection rather than an analog wire you have to calibrate and hope stays accurate. That digital link is a real advantage over analog wideband kits: no voltage-offset drift, no calibration guesswork, the ECU reads true lambda directly.

It comes in a sealed enclosure with two integrated DTM-4 connectors and two mounting holes, so you bolt it to any flat spot away from heat. Haltech includes a DTM-4 to DTM-4 CAN cable and a DTM-4 power supply cable, so you wire it to a fused, switched 12-volt source and a solid ground and you're running.

One honest word on that ground: the heater pulls real current, so give it a proper ground that can handle it. Feed it a sketchy ground and you'll chase random AFR gremlins forever. Ask us how we know.

Fits Haltech Nexus, Elite & Platinum

This kit is built for Haltech Nexus, Elite, and Platinum ECUs, so it drops right into a Haltech AFR control setup. You configure it in Haltech NSP, ESP, or ECU Manager depending on which ECU you're running.

One layout note worth checking before you button everything up: some Platinum Sport Series installs need an extra CAN cable to physically reach the ECU's CAN connection, so confirm your routing first so you're not one cable short on install day.

Installing It Right

The install is simple, but it's not something you can half-do. Mount the controller away from exhaust and turbo heat, route the wiring cleanly through a grommet, and give it an adequately fused, switched 12-volt supply. Since the heater can pull up to 3 amps at cold start, plan your power and ground like you mean it, especially if you've got several CAN devices sharing the bus.

And pay attention to sensor angle when you weld in the bung: point the sensor so condensation can't pool in it during warm-up, because water sitting on a hot wideband sensor is how you kill it early. We run these exact kits on our own cars when we want accurate AFR without any drama, which is exactly why we stock them.

Who Should Run This Wideband Kit

This is for the tuner or serious DIYer running a Haltech Nexus, Elite, or Platinum who wants accurate, CAN-based AFR data without fighting analog noise or trusting a factory narrowband. Whether you're tuning a fresh build, adding boost, or just want to actually see what your engine is doing across the whole rev range, this is the clean, plug-and-play way to get there on a Haltech system. A genuine Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband, a digital CAN connection, and the clean data to tune with confidence. Weld in the bung, wire it up right, and tune with data you can trust.
